So, I gotta tell you about the Yankees game the other day. It was a mess, a total mess. I was so hyped for the game, you know? Yankees versus Blue Jays, a classic matchup. Got my jersey on, snacks ready, and bam, the skies just opened up.
I headed to the stadium early, wanting to soak in the atmosphere. The energy was electric, even with the dark clouds looming. Everyone was buzzing, hoping the rain would hold off. But no luck. Just as the game was about to start, the downpour began.
The Waiting Game
We all huddled under whatever cover we could find. Some folks had umbrellas, the small ones, because you can’t bring in the big golf ones, apparently. People were checking their phones constantly, looking for updates. The Yankees’ Twitter announced the delay at 4:29 PM, sharp. But that was it, no other info. We were in the dark, literally and figuratively.
- Stuck there, in the 8th inning, tie game. Talk about a cliffhanger!
- I spent the time chatting with fellow fans, sharing our rain delay stories.
- Watched as the grounds crew battled the elements, trying to keep the field somewhat playable.
The rain was relentless. It just kept coming down, and we’re just there, hoping for a miracle. The scoreboard would get the occasional updates. There is NO SET TIME for that. Hours passed. Finally, it became the long awaiting, but the game was delayed/postponed.
I mean, I get it, safety first and all that. But man, it’s frustrating. You plan your day around this, and then… nothing. Ended up heading home, soaked and disappointed. But hey, that’s baseball, right? Always unpredictable. At least I got a rain check. Just hope the rescheduled game has better weather.
