Well, let me tell you about this Wuthering Waves thing, shadows of the past and all that. I don’t rightly know what it all means, but my grandson, he’s always playing it. So, I see things, you know? Shadows of the past, that sounds like something my old man used to talk about, always going on about the war and such.
This game, though, it’s somethin’ else. Lots of runnin’ around, fightin’ with them fancy swords and whatnot. My grandson, he showed me a bit, said I gotta follow the guide if I get stuck. Said somethin’ about a letter from some girl, Xiaoyu or somethin’. He was all worked up when it didn’t come, stompin’ around like a bull in a china shop. Said the guide tells ya what to do if that happens, how to start the task even without that letter. Kids these days, always needin’ a guide for everything. Back in my day, we just figured things out, or we didn’t. Simple as that.
Anyways, this Xiaoyu letter thing, it’s important, see? It’s like the start of somethin’ big. If you don’t get it, you gotta find a way to start the task on your own. The guide tells ya how to do it, findin’ the entrance to some mine, I think. Mines ain’t no good, let me tell ya. Nothin’ but darkness and trouble down there. My grandpa, he worked in a mine, coughed his lungs out ’til the day he died. But these young folks, they think it’s all fun and games.
Then there’s this walkthrough, you know, like a map, kinda. My grandson watches these walkthrough videos all the time, step by step. He plays on that PlayStation 5, says it makes the game look real pretty. I don’t see it myself. Looks like a bunch of flashing lights and noise to me. But he says the walkthrough shows you everything, how to beat the bad guys, where to find the hidden treasures, all that jazz. He was watchin’ one the other day, somethin’ about Wuthering Waves (PS5), and he was yellin’ at the TV, like the fella in the video could hear him. “Go left! Go left, you idiot!” Kids, I tell ya.
- Finding Xiaoyu’s Letter: This seems real important, like the start of everything. If you don’t get it, the guide tells ya how to start anyway, which is good, I guess.
- Starting the Task: Even without the letter, there’s a way to get goin’, the guide shows ya. Findin’ some mine entrance, probably dark and spooky.
- Mine Exploration: Once you find the mine, that’s where the real trouble starts, I reckon. Walkthroughs help you here, showin’ ya where to go and what to do. My grandson says the PS5 version looks real good, but I just see trouble.
- Wuthering Waves (PS5) Experience: This PlayStation thing seems to make the game look better, but it’s still just a game to me. My grandson, he loves it though, watches them walkthroughs like they’re the gospel truth.
This whole Wuthering Waves thing, it reminds me of stories my grandma used to tell. About spirits and shadows and things that happened long ago. Maybe that’s what they mean by shadows of the past. Everyone has shadows, don’t they? Things they don’t talk about, things they try to forget. This game, it seems to be bringin’ up some of them shadows, for these young folks anyway.
I asked my grandson what it was all about, this Wuthering Waves. He just mumbled somethin’ about resonators and echoes and fightin’ some big bad guy. I didn’t understand a word of it. He tried to explain it to me, showed me some of them walkthrough videos, but it was all just noise to me. Too much flashin’ and bangin’ for my old eyes. But he seems to enjoy it, so I guess that’s all that matters. He says it’s a gacha game or something too. Kids spending money like its water on these gambling games. Back in my day a penny saved was a penny earned, not like these silly youngsters.
So, there ya have it. That’s what I know about Wuthering Waves, shadows of the past and all that. Not much, I admit. But I see my grandson playin’ it, and I hear him talkin’ about it, and I figure it must be somethin’ important to these young folks. Maybe it’s a way for them to deal with their own shadows, you know? Or maybe it’s just a way to pass the time. Either way, it seems to keep ‘em busy, which ain’t a bad thing, I suppose.
If you’re playin’ this game, just remember what the guide says, and watch them walkthroughs if you get stuck. And stay out of those mines if you can help it. Nothin’ but trouble down there, I tell ya. Wuthering Waves, shadows of the past… sounds like a whole heap of trouble to me. And I’m not even playing the darn game.
