Okay, so I decided to jump into Wuthering Waves the other day. Saw it popping up, folks talking about it, figured I’d give it a whirl. Got it downloaded, installed, the usual routine.
Fired it up and started messing around. The world, yeah, it’s got this vibe, you know? Sometimes feels a bit heavy, kinda like the name suggests, a bit stormy perhaps. You run around, do the quests, fight some stuff. Standard fare, but it got me thinking.

That phrase… light?
Then this phrase just sort of lodged itself in my brain: “do you believe in light?”. Not even sure if it’s a direct quote I saw flash by, or just the mood of the game, or something I read about it. But it stuck.
Believe in light? Seemed like a heavy question for just playing a game. It made me pause, actually. Put the controller down for a bit. Stared out the window. Things have felt a bit… gray lately. Not bad, just kinda monotone. Same routines, same news, same everything. Felt like I was just going through the motions.
It reminded me of something funny, totally unrelated. Years back, I was trying to learn how to bake bread from scratch. Sounds simple, right? Flour, water, yeast, salt. But man, my first few attempts were disasters.
- Attempt 1: Rock hard. Could’ve used it as a doorstop.
- Attempt 2: Didn’t rise at all. Flat as a pancake.
- Attempt 3: Tasted… weird. Just weird.
I was getting seriously frustrated. Ready to just go back to store-bought forever. Felt pretty dark about my baking future, honestly. My kitchen looked like a flour bomb had gone off, and I had nothing but inedible lumps to show for it.
Then I talked to my neighbor, old Mrs. Gable. She’d been baking forever. She didn’t give me some magic secret. She just said, “Oh honey, the yeast was probably sleepy. Did you give it warm water? Not too hot, not too cold. Like a nice bath.”
A nice bath? Okay. So next time, I was super careful with the water temperature. Used a thermometer and everything. And it worked. The dough actually rose. It wasn’t perfect bread, still a bit lumpy, but it was bread. Seeing that dough puff up… felt like a little bit of light, seriously.

Finding the little sparks
So, back to Wuthering Waves and believing in light. Playing the game, exploring the world, sometimes you stumble upon a scenic view, or beat a tough enemy, or find a hidden chest. Small victories. They don’t change the whole world, but they’re little bright spots.
Maybe believing in light isn’t about waiting for some huge, blinding miracle. Maybe it’s just about acknowledging those small wins. The ‘nice bath’ for the yeast. The dough rising. Finding that chest in the game. Just noticing the small good things even when stuff feels generally gray or ‘wuthering’.
So yeah, I’m still playing. Still exploring. Still feels a bit stormy sometimes. But I’m keeping an eye out for those little sparks. Guess I do believe in light, just maybe the small, everyday kind.
