Hey guys, it’s your boy back again. You won’t believe what I’ve been up to lately. So, you know I’m a massive baseball fan, right? And the Orioles? Don’t even get me started. I decided to get into this little project – making playlists of the Orioles’ walk-up songs. You know, the tunes they play when the players step up to the plate. I hit up the official MLB Orioles music page, found the songs, all that stuff.
Then I began to gather the songs on both Spotify and Apple Music. I was just messing around, you know, killing time. But then I started thinking about one player in particular – Gunnar Henderson. That kid’s a beast, seriously. Hits the ball like a damn truck. I gotta say, I was curious about his walk-up song. What gets him pumped up, you know?
So, I did what any normal person would do – I began to look it up. Turns out, there were already a bunch of people who were curious about the same thing! I mean, the guy’s a rising star, who wouldn’t be? One person even asked their friend about it, and you know what? That friend actually knew a thing or two about it. What a coincidence, right?
- I started reading more about it, just for fun. Did you know that these walk-up songs are a whole thing?
- It’s like a baseball ritual. They play a snippet of the song when the batter comes up or when a relief pitcher comes in.
- And get this – the players choose the songs themselves! It’s like a part of their identity, a way to show the fans who they are.
Anyway, back to Gunnar. I finally figured out his walk-up song. It’s called “Sweet Escape”. And apparently, someone close to him helped him pick it. How cool is that? It all makes sense now. Every time I hear that song, I think of Gunnar stepping up to the plate, ready to smash one out of the park. It’s actually a pretty catchy song if you listen to it.
What I Learned
This whole thing, it wasn’t just about finding Gunnar’s song. I learned a lot about this whole walk-up song tradition. It’s like a little window into the players’ personalities. I don’t know, I just think it’s pretty neat. And it gave me a whole new appreciation for the game. Who knew there was so much going on behind the scenes? I definitely didn’t, until now. I might even start paying more attention to the walk-up songs for other players. Maybe I’ll find some new favorite tunes that way. You never know.
