Alright, so I finally got around to messing with “True Grit” in Gray Zone Warfare, specifically on the Mithras map. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a rollercoaster.
First, I spawned in. Gotta say, the map looks pretty sweet. Lots of dense jungle, which, you know, can be good and bad. Good for sneaking, bad for seeing anything more than five feet in front of you.

My initial goal was pretty simple: get a feel for the layout. No big firefights, just exploring. So, I stuck to the edges of the map, using the trees and bushes as cover. I even crawled for a good chunk of it, just to be extra cautious.
- First hour: Mostly uneventful. Found a few abandoned huts, some scattered supplies. Nothing major.
- Second hour: Started to get a little more tense. Heard some distant gunfire, but couldn’t pinpoint where it was coming from. Decided to keep moving.
Then, things got interesting. I stumbled upon a small enemy patrol. Three guys, all geared up. I was totally outnumbered, but I figured, what the heck, let’s see what happens.
I took cover behind a thick tree and waited for them to get closer. My heart was pounding, I’m not gonna lie. When they were in range, I popped out and started shooting. Managed to take down one of them before they even knew what hit them.
The other two, though, they were quick. They returned fire, and bullets were whizzing past my head. I ducked back behind the tree, reloaded, and peeked out again. Another quick burst, and I dropped the second guy.
The last one, he was smart. He flanked me, trying to get a better angle. I saw him out of the corner of my eye and spun around, firing almost blindly. Luckily, my shots connected, and he went down.
Aftermath
I was shaking, hands were sweaty. But I did it. I took out a whole patrol by myself. I looted their bodies, grabbed some better gear, and continued my exploration.

The rest of my time on Mithras was a mix of cautious movement and a few more small skirmishes. Nothing as intense as that first encounter, though.
Overall, it was a great first run. Definitely learned a lot about the map and how to survive. True Grit is no joke, man, you really gotta be on your toes.
