Well, let me tell ya ’bout Jeff Seager, folks. Now, he ain’t no stranger to the baseball world, though he ain’t the one out there hittin’ the ball anymore. Jeff, he’s the daddy of them two big-time baseball boys, Corey and Kyle. Y’know, Corey Seager, the one who plays shortstop for the Texas Rangers in the MLB. And Kyle, well, he’s the older one, who played for the Seattle Mariners for many years, retired just a while back after a good run.
But let’s get back to Jeff here. He’s the kinda guy you might not hear too much about, but he’s been workin’ hard in the background, raisin’ them boys and supportin’ them. He grew up in a place called Poughkeepsie, New York. Sounds like a funny name, don’t it? Poughkeepsie! Anyway, he went off to college, played baseball at a place called Fairleigh Dickinson in New Jersey. Not bad, eh? He had some skills back in his day.
Now, Jeff ain’t just about baseball. He worked as an information technology manager at a bank, which I reckon is a good job to keep food on the table while he’s raisin’ a bunch of boys. His wife, Jody, she’s a strong woman too. She played all kinds of sports when she was younger—track, volleyball, and softball. So, you can tell, the Seager family, they’re full of athletes, every last one of ’em.
Jeff and Jody, they got three sons—Corey, Kyle, and another one, Justin. All of ’em grew up playin’ baseball. Now, Jeff wasn’t the type to just sit back and watch. On them cold December nights, when nobody else was around, he’d throw batting practice to his boys. Ain’t that somethin’? No matter the weather, he was out there, tossin’ them balls and teachin’ his boys the game. Y’see, a lot of folks don’t realize just how much work goes into gettin’ a kid to the big leagues. It’s not just the talent, it’s the time and effort, and Jeff Seager was there, puttin’ in both.
And I reckon it’s safe to say, Jeff and his wife’s hard work paid off. Look at Corey now, playin’ in the World Series with the Texas Rangers. Heck, you might even catch Jeff and Jody out there in Arlington, Texas, watchin’ their youngest boy play, cheerin’ him on with all their might. Ain’t that sweet? They’ve seen their boys grow up and now they’re watchin’ ’em live their dreams on the big stage. Must make them feel mighty proud.
As for Kyle, well, he had his turn at the big leagues too. Played for the Mariners for a long time, all the way until 2021. Now, he’s hangin’ up his cleats, but I’m sure he’s got plenty of memories from them good ol’ days in the MLB. He was drafted back in 2009, so he’s been around a long time. He was a third-round pick, and I reckon he made the most of it. But now, after a career where he hit plenty of homers and made a name for himself, he’s done. But like I said, baseball’s in their blood, and the family’s still strong, keepin’ up the tradition.
All this talk about Jeff and his boys got me thinkin’—sometimes it’s not just about the player who makes it to the top. It’s about the family behind ’em, workin’ hard and givin’ their all. That’s what Jeff did. He supported his boys from the sidelines, from the field, from wherever he could. And now, look at ’em—they’ve made it. So, when you see Corey and Kyle out there playin’, remember, there’s a whole lotta love and effort from their parents behind all that success.
So, yeah, that’s a bit about Jeff Seager. Ain’t he somethin’? Just a regular guy, doin’ his part to help his kids chase their dreams. That’s what family’s about, ain’t it?
