Hey everyone, today I want to talk about a young golfer that I’ve been following, Alexa Pano. I started watching her after seeing her in that documentary, “The Short Game” on Netflix years ago. She’s been killing it lately, and I wanted to try to see what all the fuss was about. I mean, this girl is young, but wow, she’s already made a name for herself in the golfing world. She was even featured in a documentary when she was a kid! How cool is that?
So, I started digging into her background. Turns out she was born in 2004, which makes her just 19 now. She’s from Westborough, Massachusetts, but she’s been living with her dad in Florida since she was little. Her dad, Rick, seems to be her biggest supporter, even caddied for her when she was starting out. She’s won a bunch of those U.S. Kids Golf World Championships, like, five of them. And she was on the winning Junior Ryder Cup and Junior Solheim Cup teams. I mean, the talent is obvious.
I went down a rabbit hole watching videos of her playing. She first played in a big LPGA event back in 2018 and later even made the cut for the U.S. Women’s Open in 2019. I watched her in the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and let me tell you, she holds her own against the best. No doubt she will win many more in the future.
She turned pro in April 2022, and from what I can gather, she did pretty well in the qualifying rounds to get onto the Epson Tour. But what really got me hooked was watching her recent games. The way she swings, her focus, it’s like she’s been playing for decades. And her putting? Don’t even get me started. It’s smooth, confident, and she makes it look so easy.
I even tried to copy her stance and swing in my backyard. Let’s just say, I have a newfound respect for how much practice and dedication it takes to play at her level. I pulled a muscle, and my neighbors probably got a good laugh, but hey, it was worth a shot. I felt like a kid again, trying to emulate my favorite athletes.
It’s not just her skills, though. She seems really down-to-earth and focused. You can tell she loves the game. In interviews, she’s always talking about improving and learning from every round. That kind of attitude is what makes a champion, in my opinion.
Following Alexa Pano’s journey has been fun. She’s a great example of what hard work and passion can achieve. She’s got a bright future ahead of her, and I can’t wait to see what she does next. If you’re a golf fan, or even if you’re just looking for someone to root for, I’d say keep an eye on Alexa Pano. She’s the real deal.
Anyway, that’s all I have for today. Let me know what you think about Alexa Pano or if there are other young athletes you’re excited about. I love discovering new talent, and I’m always up for geeking out about sports. Until next time, take care and happy golfing!
