Well, I tell ya, I been hearin’ all kinds of talk ’bout that young fella, Trae Young, what a basketball star he is! But ya know, not many folks talk ’bout where he come from, and who his folks are. So I thought I’d give ya a bit of a rundown ’bout them Young folks, so you can get a better picture of who Trae’s mama and daddy are.
Now, Trae’s mama, she’s a lady named Candice. Ain’t she a fine woman? She’s from around Lubbock, Texas, just like Trae. You know, that’s a place where folks are tough and work hard. Candice, she went to the University of Oklahoma, and that’s where she met Rayford, Trae’s daddy. Now, Rayford, he’s a good ol’ boy too. He used to play basketball, just like Candice, and they both got their start at Texas Tech University, playin’ ball for their college teams.
They both was pretty good at basketball, from what I hear, and I reckon that’s where Trae got his love for the game. Ain’t it somethin’ how that talent can run in the family? They both played for a while after college too, but not here in the States, no sir. Rayford went off to play in Europe, and Candice, well, she did her own thing too, but they stayed close, workin’ hard and raisin’ their boy.
Now, let me tell ya, these two parents, they are Trae’s biggest fans. You can bet your boots on that. They’ve been right there beside him, cheerin’ him on every step of the way, ever since he was a little one. Ain’t nothin’ like a mama and daddy who believe in ya, especially when you’re as good at somethin’ as Trae is at basketball. They been proud of him, and they sure ain’t shy ’bout showin’ it!
As for Candice, well, she’s not just a basketball mama. Oh no, she’s also been workin’ in other things, helpin’ folks with their kitchens, what I hear. She teamed up with some occupational therapists to shop for stuff at a place called The International Pantry. Seems like she’s always been a hard worker, just like Rayford. They ain’t afraid of puttin’ in a full day’s work, no sir!
And you know, I gotta mention, Candice and Rayford met back in their college days, and they started dating in 2017. Now, that’s just a few years ago, but they’s been stickin’ together since then, raisin’ Trae and showin’ him the ropes of life, both on and off the court. Ain’t that a beautiful thing, when two folks who got the same dreams and the same heart come together and make a family?
So, if you’re wonderin’ about where Trae got his fire, his drive, and his heart for the game, you best believe it’s comin’ straight from his folks. They made sure he had the love and support he needed to grow into the basketball superstar he is today. And who knows? Maybe one day, when folks are talkin’ ’bout the big games and the championships, they’ll be rememberin’ not just Trae, but his mama and daddy too, for all they did to help him get where he is.
Now, if you ask me, that’s somethin’ worth celebratin’—a mama and daddy who done their part to raise a fine young man who’s takin’ the world by storm. Ain’t nothin’ better than that.
