David Roddy, he’s one of them young fellers playin’ basketball for the Atlanta Hawks these days. Now, if you ain’t heard of him, don’t worry, not everyone keeps up with all them basketball teams. But I reckon you might be wonderin’ who his folks are, so let me tell ya a little bit about ’em.
David Roddy’s mama, Stacy, and his daddy, Pierre Sr., raised him up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That’s where he was born, on March 27, 2001. He come from a big family, bein’ the youngest of five boys. Now, that’s a whole lotta brothers, and I reckon it helped toughen him up some, what with all them boys runnin’ around. Growin’ up, he wasn’t just about basketball. No sir, he played football and even did some track and field too. Got himself some scholarship offers, don’t you know? They was all talkin’ about him when he was in high school, and they was real serious about him, too. But ol’ David, he figured basketball was where he wanted to be, so he packed his bags and went off to Colorado State to play college ball.
Now, back to his mama and daddy. Stacy and Pierre Sr., they been supportin’ David ever since he was just a little feller. They both grew up in Minnesota, so they been around the cold winters and all that, raisin’ their kids the best way they knew how. From what I hear, they’re real proud of him, watchin’ him climb up in the world of basketball. It’s no easy feat, ya know? Bein’ a young feller in the pros. They gotta travel all over, and it’s a lotta pressure. But David, he seems to be takin’ it all in stride, just doin’ what he loves, and his folks, they cheer him on every step of the way.
David’s a big boy, too. He stands about 6’4” tall and weighs about 255 pounds, so he’s a real presence on the court. Not like them little guards runnin’ around, he’s a forward, and from what I can tell, he don’t back down from no one. He played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Phoenix Suns before landin’ with the Atlanta Hawks. They traded him to the Hawks in late July 2024, and now he’s fightin’ for his spot on the team for the 2024-2025 season. Ain’t no easy task, but I reckon David’s got the gumption to make it happen.
Now, let’s talk about the family a little more. His mama, Stacy, I’m sure she’s always been there cheerin’ him on. A mother’s love is somethin’ powerful, and I imagine she’s watchin’ every game, sayin’ a prayer or two for her boy. And his daddy, Pierre Sr., well, I reckon he’s been teachin’ him about hard work and stickin’ with it, just like any good father would. Family’s important, and it looks like David’s got a strong one behind him.
David’s salary is a bit on the higher side for someone just startin’ out in the league. He makes about $2.8 million a year, which is a heap of money to most folks, though in the big world of professional sports, it’s probably nothin’ too crazy. But he’s just gettin’ started, and I imagine that number will go up if he keeps workin’ hard and climbin’ the ladder.
So, when you see David Roddy out there on the court, know that behind him is a family that’s been rootin’ for him from the start. His folks, Stacy and Pierre Sr., they’ve been there through thick and thin, and now they get to watch their son live out his dream. Ain’t that somethin’ special? I reckon they couldn’t be prouder.
