Okay, so I wanted to share my experience with that “Winter Games” event they ran in Monopoly Go not too long ago. Like most events, it popped up, and I figured, why not give it a shot? Always chasing those dice and sticker packs, right?
Getting Started
First thing I did was check out the rewards list. Seemed like the usual mix – dice, cash, sticker packs, and some special winter-themed token or shield at the very end. The goal was collecting points, those little snowflake things, I think? You picked them up mainly by landing on specific tiles.

So, I just started rolling. Business as usual. Watched my little piece move around the board, hoping to hit the right spots.
The Grind and Strategy
It quickly became clear which tiles were important for this event. I remember getting points from Chance, Community Chest, and definitely the Railroads. Landing on a Railroad was always a bit of a gamble – hoping for a shutdown or a big bank heist to get points for the side tournament too, but also needing those event tokens.
Here’s what I tried to do:
- Managing Dice: This is always the big one. Started with whatever dice I had saved up. Tried to complete the Quick Wins each day for that extra boost.
- Using Multipliers: I mostly stuck to lower multipliers, maybe x3 or x5, just steady rolling. But sometimes, when I felt I was close to a Railroad or a Chance tile, I’d crank it up. Bumped it to x10, sometimes even x20 if I was feeling particularly lucky or had a bunch of dice to burn. Didn’t always work, mind you. Had plenty of times where I rolled right past the tile I wanted on a high multiplier. Burns through dice so fast when that happens.
- Hitting Milestones: The first few milestones came pretty easy. Got a few dice back, some cash. It felt like decent progress. But man, those later milestones really stretched out. The points needed just jumped way up.
- Side Tournaments: Usually, there was a shorter tournament running alongside the main Winter Games event. Had to decide whether to focus purely on event tokens or try to score high in the tournament too. Mostly, I tried to double-dip – hitting Railroads gave points for both.
Challenges Faced
It wasn’t all smooth sailing. There were definitely times I ran completely out of dice. Had to wait for the hourly top-up or hope for a lucky break from the free gifts or Quick Wins. Super frustrating just sitting there, unable to play.
Also had those streaks where it felt like the game was actively avoiding the tiles I needed. Just hitting useless spots over and over again. That’s Monopoly Go for you, I guess. Keeps you humble.
Final Outcome
So, after days of rolling, collecting, and occasionally getting frustrated, I did manage to finish the Winter Games event. Got right to the end. Claimed that final big prize – a load of dice and that special winter shield skin. It looked pretty cool, gotta admit.

Was it worth the effort? Tough question. It took a lot of time and attention, checking the game constantly, strategizing rolls. The rewards were decent, especially the dice for future play. But it was definitely a grind. If you enjoy the collecting aspect and need dice, then yeah, probably. But don’t expect it to be a walk in the park. It’s a commitment, like most of these big events.
Anyway, that was my run through the Winter Games. Now waiting to see what event they throw at us next.
