Alright, let’s talk about hitting bases at Town Hall 7. It felt like a big jump when I first got there, walls got tougher, defenses hit harder. I spent a good while just trying random stuff, mostly Giant-Healer combos or mass Archers, you know, the usual low-level things. Sometimes it worked, mostly against weaker bases, but often I’d just fizzle out, especially in Clan Wars.
Finding What Works
I remember getting frustrated after a few failed war attacks. My clan mates were talking about Dragons, and I was skeptical. Seemed expensive and slow to train. But I figured, what the heck, gotta try something different. So, I upgraded my Barracks and started cooking up Dragons. My first few attempts were messy, real messy.

My Early Dragon Fails:
- I’d just spam them all in one spot. They’d fly around the outside, get picked off by Air Defenses one by one. Total waste.
- I didn’t pay attention to the Clan Castle troops. A high-level Dragon or Wizards would pop out and wreck my slow-moving Dragons.
- Air Sweepers? Didn’t even consider them at first. Watched my dragons get pushed back constantly while getting shot down.
Figuring Out the Dragon Attack
So, back to the drawing board. I watched some replays, talked to clan mates again. The key, they said, was dealing with Air Defenses (ADs). At TH7, you have three Lightning Spells. And guess what? Three max TH7 Lightning Spells can take out one max TH7 Air Defense. That was the lightbulb moment.
My Process Now:
First, I scout the base carefully. I look for the Air Defenses. Which one is the hardest to get to? Or which one covers the core the best? That’s the one I target with my Lightning Spells. I zoom in, check the HP, make sure my spells are upgraded enough, and ZAP! One AD gone before I even drop a troop.
Next, the funnel. This was the other big thing I was missing. You can’t just dump all the dragons. I use my Barbarian King on one corner to clear some trash buildings (like builder huts, collectors). Sometimes I use one or two Dragons on the other corner to do the same. The goal is to create a clear path for the main group of Dragons straight towards the remaining Air Defenses and the Town Hall.
Once the path is clear, I deploy the rest of my Dragons, usually in a line or a slight curve, aimed towards those remaining ADs. I try to time it so they approach the Air Sweeper from the side or behind if possible, but sometimes you just have to power through it.

For Clan Castle troops, if I can lure them out easily, I might try and pull them to a corner and zap them along with the AD, or just let my Dragons deal with them. Dragons have splash damage, so they can handle Balloons or lower stuff, but enemy Dragons or high-level Wizards can still be a problem sometimes.
I usually fill my own Clan Castle with high-level Balloons if I can get them. I deploy these behind the Dragons once the ADs start targeting the Dragons. The Balloons go straight for defenses and hit hard.
Results and Thoughts
It’s not foolproof, okay? Sometimes a base layout is tricky, or the Sweeper is perfectly placed, or I mess up the funnel. But most of the time? This mass Dragon with Lightning strategy gets the job done at TH7. It’s reliable for getting three stars in war against most other TH7s once you get the hang of it.
The key things I learned were:
- Patience in scouting: Picking the right AD to zap is crucial.
- Funneling matters: Don’t just spam, guide your troops.
- Spell upgrades help: Make sure those Lightning spells are maxed for TH7.
- Clan Castle troops: Both yours and theirs can make a big difference.
It takes practice, like anything. Training time is long, yeah, but seeing those three stars pop up makes it feel worth it. That’s how I’ve been tackling TH7 lately, focusing on getting that Dragon attack down solid.
