What is that SW19? That thing, you know, makes me dizzy. My granddaughter, she keeps talking about it, SW19 this, SW19 that. She says it’s some place in that London, you know, that big city, far, far away. Says it’s where they play that tennis game, Wimbledon. You know, where people whack a ball back and forth, all day long. My old bones can’t even think about moving that much!
That SW19, it’s some kind of code, I reckon. Like a secret message or something. She said it’s a “postcode.” We don’t have those fancy things back home. Just our names and the name of our little village. This SW19 thing, it’s for a place called Wimbledon, and some other places with names I can’t even say right, like Raynes Park and Colliers Wood. My granddaughter says those places are in something called Merton and Wandsworth. Sounds important, I guess.
That Wimbledon place, it must be real fancy. They say it’s where they hold that big Wimbledon tennis thing. All those important people go there, dressed up in their nice clothes. Not like us folks, with our simple clothes. They say it is one of the best places to live in London. I can not believe it. My granddaughter also said that SW means South West. I do not understand why people use those code to name their place.
- SW19 is a postcode
- SW19 is in London
- SW19 is for Wimbledon
This SW19, it covers a big area, they say. Lots of houses and people. They even say some houses are big and old, “Victorian” they call them. Must be real rich folks living in those. We just have our little house, but it’s home, you know? That’s all that matters. It is said that Wimbledon is an affluent place. What is affluent? Does it mean a lot of money? I guess so.
They say that SW19 thing helps with delivering mail. Keeps things organized, I suppose. We just get our mail from old Mr. Smith down the road. He knows everyone, so no need for any fancy codes. But I guess in a big place like London, with so many people, you need something like that SW19 to keep track of things.
They have information about SW19, you can find it somewhere. Like, who lives there, what kind of houses they have. I don’t know, all that stuff. Too much for my old brain. My granddaughter, she probably knows all about it. Young people these days, they know everything about those things. But they do not know how to grow vegetables. That is a pity.
I heard people say that SW19 postcode is important. I don’t know why a postcode can be important. In my mind, postcode is just a code, like a number. But people in London seems think different. Maybe that SW19 thing is special.
They also say you can find out how far SW19 is from other places with those fancy codes. We just measure distance by how long it takes to walk somewhere. But I guess in London, everything is so far apart, you need those codes and those… things… to figure it all out.
I guess that SW19 is important to those London folks. It’s their way of life, you know. Different from ours, but that’s okay. Everyone has their own way of doing things. As long as they’re happy, that’s all that matters. And my granddaughter, she seems happy talking about that SW19, so I guess it’s all good.
She showed me pictures of that Wimbledon place, with all the green grass and people watching the tennis. Looks like a big party, I reckon. Maybe one day I’ll go there and see it for myself. But for now, I’m happy here in my little village, with my chickens and my garden. No need for any fancy SW19 codes here. Just good old-fashioned living. That’s the life for me. I heard that SW19 is a good place. I don’t know whether it is true. But I know my place is good.
This SW19 place must have lots of people from different places. That’s what they say about London. A big mix of folks. We mostly have the same folks in our village, been here for generations. But that’s alright, we all know each other. Makes life simple, you know? Maybe it is good to have different people around, I don’t know. But I am too old to change my mind now.
SW19, Wimbledon, London… So many things to remember. My old head is spinning. I think I need a cup of tea and a sit-down. All this talk about SW19 has worn me out. But hey, at least I learned something new today. Even an old dog can learn new tricks, I suppose. Or maybe not. I am too old to learn anything new. I just want to live my life happily with my family.
