My First Run-in
So, I’m cruising through the Divalian Mists, shooting random stuff, and I bump into this absolute unit of a Hive Knight. Tougher than the usual riff-raff, this one. Had a name, “Trove Guardian,” which caught my eye. Naturally, I decided to pick a fight. Took a bit more effort than I expected, but I finally put him down.
After he went down, I noticed this weird buff pop up, something like “Wormgiven” or whatever. Didn’t think much of it at first. Then I saw some strange glowy bits appearing in the air nearby, like little platforms. Curiosity got the better of me, as it usually does.
Figuring Out the Path
I hopped onto the first platform. Then another appeared a little further away. It hit me – this Knight was guarding some kind of hidden jumping puzzle! It wasn’t immediately obvious where the next step was sometimes. Took a few leaps of faith, sometimes falling flat on my face, before I got the hang of it. Pro tip: Sometimes shooting out into the empty space reveals the next platform faintly. Definitely helped me avoid a few embarrassing drops.
The path twisted and turned, leading me up and around the terrain. It felt pretty cool, like uncovering a little secret the game tucked away.
The Payoff
Finally, after maybe five or six jumps, I landed on a solid ledge where a chest was waiting. Popped it open and got some Dreaming City gear, maybe some Dark Fragments too. Nothing game-breaking, but hey, free loot is free loot, right? And the little adventure to get there was pretty satisfying.
Where to Find Them
Now, the tricky part I learned later is that this guy isn’t always in the same spot. He moves around each week! I started keeping track, noticing he’d show up in different areas:
- Sometimes he’s chilling in the Divalian Mists, near the main landing zone.
- Other times I’ve hunted him down in The Strand, over by the gardens.
- And I’ve definitely found him lurking in the Spine of Keres, where you visit the Oracle Engine.
So, essentially, a Trove Guardian is just a tough Hive Knight who spawns in one of a few rotating spots in the Dreaming City each week. Killing him reveals a short, hidden platforming path that leads to a chest full of Dreaming City goodies. It’s a neat little weekly ritual if you’re running low on materials or just enjoy a quick treasure hunt. Took me a bit to piece it all together, but now it’s just part of my regular patrol route when I’m in the area.
