Alright, let’s talk about this League Arena ranks thing. When the mode first popped up again, I wasn’t super hyped, honestly. Just another temporary mode, right? But then a couple buddies kept bugging me to try it, saying it was different this time around, less chaotic maybe.
So, I dipped my toes in. First few matches? Complete disaster. Felt like I had no clue what was going on. Everyone else seemed to know these crazy augment combos, and I was just picking whatever looked shiny. We got stomped, hard. Landed squarely in the bottom tier, Wood I think they called it? Felt about right.

Didn’t really care much at first, just messing around. But then, you know how it is, you start seeing that rank icon, and a little part of you wants to see it go up. So, I started playing a bit more seriously. Tried focusing on champs I actually knew how to play, instead of just picking random stuff.
Getting into the Grind
Me and one regular duo partner, we started experimenting. We tried:
- Tanky bruisers to just outlast people.
- Poke mages to annoy everyone from afar.
- Some weird assassin combos.
Some things worked okay, others were just free losses. Slowly, painfully, we climbed out of Wood. Seeing that Bronze icon felt like a small victory, even though it’s, well, Bronze.
Silver wasn’t too bad, felt like more of the same, just slightly better players. But then Gold hit. Man, Gold felt like a wall. Suddenly everyone seemed to have meta combos figured out. Facing stuff like Taric + Kog’Maw or those unkillable tank pairs over and over got really old, really fast. We’d win a few, then lose a bunch. Stuck there for what felt like ages.
The grind was real. Some nights we’d play for hours and barely move up or down. Lots of frustration, blaming augments, blaming matchmaking, blaming each other sometimes, haha. But we kept at it. You get stubborn, you know?
Hitting Gladiator and… Now What?
Finally, after a marathon session one weekend, fueled by too much coffee, we broke through. Got that Gladiator rank. Felt pretty good, not gonna lie. Like we actually accomplished something, even if it’s just in a silly game mode.

Looking back now, was it worth all that time? Eh, maybe? It was fun learning the mode, finding combos that clicked, and getting that final rank felt satisfying. But the frustration level was high sometimes. Dealing with the same OP stuff, getting terrible augments round after round… it wears you down.
So yeah, I did the Arena rank climb. Got to Gladiator. It was an experience. Will I grind it that hard again if it comes back? Probably not, unless they shake things up significantly. It’s cool to have the icon, I guess, but the journey there was a real rollercoaster. Now, I’m just playing it for fun when I feel like it, no pressure about the rank anymore. Much better that way.
