Alright, guys, let’s talk about how I tried to live the “luxurious life” in Escape from Tarkov. It all started with this idea of becoming a Scav boss, rolling in roubles, and decking out my hideout with all the fancy stuff.
First, I watched a bunch of videos. You know, those guys who make it look super easy, finding all the best loot and never dying. I thought, “Yeah, I can do that!” Spoiler alert: it’s harder than it looks.

I started with some Scav runs on Customs. Figured it was a good place to learn the map and maybe snag some decent gear. My first few runs? Total disaster. I got sniped by players I never saw, stumbled into other Scavs who blasted me, and basically just donated my starting gear to the Tarkov gods.
Then, I tried to get smarter. I learned to listen for footsteps, avoid the high-traffic areas, and generally sneak around like a rat. It helped a bit. I managed to extract a few times with some okay loot, mostly stuff I could sell to Fence for a few thousand roubles.
- Loot run #1: Found a broken GPhone. Sold it for like 5k.
- Loot run #2: Got shot in the leg and limped to the extract. Found a bandage, though!
- Loot run #3: Actually found a decent AK. Sold it for parts. Progress!
I kept grinding, slowly building up my stash of roubles. I started to upgrade my hideout, bit by bit. The workbench first, then the medstation. It felt good, seeing those little improvements.
But the “luxurious life”? Still a long way off. I tried some PMC runs, thinking I could take on the geared players. Nope. Got wrecked. Lost all my good gear. Back to Scav runs it was.
The Realization
After a few weeks of this, I realized something. The “luxurious life” in Tarkov isn’t just about having tons of roubles. It’s about surviving. It’s about knowing the maps, understanding the game mechanics, and outsmarting other players (and sometimes, just getting lucky).
I’m still not rich in Tarkov. My hideout is decent, but not amazing. I still die a lot. But I’m having fun. I’m learning. And that, to me, is more valuable than any virtual currency. And one day, I aim to become better than I am today.
