Today, let’s talk about how to smelt iron in V Rising. I spent the whole afternoon figuring this out, and let me tell you, it wasn’t a walk in the park.
So, first things first, I had to get this Iron Ingot recipe. Sounds simple, right? Wrong! This recipe is held by a nasty boss called Quincey the Bandit King. This guy is level 37, and he’s hiding out in the Bandit Stronghold in Farbane Woods. I geared up, went over there, and let me tell you, it was a tough fight. But, I finally beat him. That was a close call, but hey, I got the recipe!
After that victory, I rushed back to my base. With the recipe in hand, I could finally use my furnace to smelt iron. But here’s the kicker – you need 20 iron ores just to make one iron ingot. 20! Can you believe that?
Finding Iron Ore
Now, where do you find this much iron ore? The best spot is the Haunted Iron Mine in the Dunley Farmlands. It’s right in the middle of the map, so it’s not too hard to find. I marked it on my map, made my way there, and started mining.
- Look for reddish-brown ore: That’s your iron. It’s usually near mountains or big boulders.
- Get your Metalworking passive to Rank 1: Or be between level 1 and 14. That way, you can find it in any zone.
- Each node gives you 3-4 iron ores: So, you’re gonna need to mine a bunch of nodes.
But before I could even get to the mine, I realized I needed to take down Quincey first. And to get into the stronghold where he’s at, you need to be in bear form, I spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to transform into a bear and finally I found out from a guy from my friend list. I’ll probably write a guide about that later. Anyway, it took some time to find him and take him down, but once I did, I raced back to the mine to start mining that iron ore.
Honestly, this whole iron smelting thing is a grind. First, you gotta beat a tough boss, then you gotta collect a ton of ore. But, it’s worth it. Once you start smelting iron, you can make better gear and really boost your gear score. So, keep at it, and happy hunting!
