Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “flying blade armguard sword of convallaria” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started out with absolutely no clue what I was doing. I just saw this cool name and thought, “Yeah, I gotta try that.”
Getting Started
First, I tried to gather some materials. I mean, what even is a “flying blade armguard sword”? Sounds like something straight out of a fantasy game. I rummaged through my garage, found some old scrap metal, some leather straps, and a rusty old blade I’d forgotten about. I figured, “Why not?”

- Scrap metal (various sizes and shapes)
- Leather straps (from an old belt)
- Rusty blade (no idea where it came from)
- Some basic tools (hammer, pliers, a rusty saw)
The Messy Middle
Next, I started banging things together. I’m no blacksmith, that’s for sure. I tried to shape the metal into something that vaguely resembled an armguard, but it ended up looking more like a dented tin can. The leather straps were a pain to work with, too. They kept slipping and sliding, and I nearly cut my finger off a few times.
The blade was the biggest challenge. It was so rusty, I spent hours just trying to clean it up. I used some steel wool and a lot of elbow grease. Eventually, I managed to get some of the rust off, but it still looked pretty rough.
Then came the “flying” part. I had absolutely no idea how to make this thing fly. I tossed it in the air a few times, but it just landed with a thud. I considered adding some kind of wings, but I didn’t have any materials that would work. And, honestly, I was getting pretty tired at this point.
The Result
After a full day of struggling, I had…something. It wasn’t pretty. It definitely wasn’t going to fly. And I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t protect anyone from anything. But, hey, I made it! It’s a testament to my stubbornness, if nothing else. It’s more like “barely-holding-together blade armgaurd falling-apart of convallaria.” I am going to be working on that.
I learned a valuable lesson: sometimes, things are better left to the professionals (or the fantasy game designers). But, I also had a bit of fun, and I got to use my hands, which is always a good thing.
