Alright, let’s talk about this golf thing, the RBC Heritage. You know, the one they play down there in South Carolina, at that Harbour Town place. Folks keep askin’ me, “Is there a cut at the RBC Heritage?” Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t like those other golf shows you see on TV.
Now, usually, them golf fellas, they play a couple of days, and if they ain’t good enough, they send ’em home. That’s what they call a “cut.” But this RBC Heritage, it’s a bit different, see? It’s one of them fancy “signature events,” like they say.
What’s different about the RBC Heritage?
This here tournament, it’s special. They got fewer fellas playin’, only about 69 or so, maybe a few more sometimes. And the good part is, everybody gets to play all four days. Yep, no matter how bad they do, they get to finish the whole thing. No gettin’ sent home early, no sir.
- No 36-hole cut: That means they play all four rounds, no matter what their score is after the first two days.
- Smaller field: They only let in around 69 to 80 players, not like them big tournaments with over a hundred fellas.
- Signature event: This means it’s a big deal, you know, with better players and more money on the line.
I heard some folks sayin’ other tournaments, like the U.S. Open, they do have a cut. They chop off the fellas who ain’t playin’ so good, send ’em packin’ after two days. But not at the Heritage. They all stay and play, which I think is kinda nice. Gives everyone a fair shake, you know?
Now, I ain’t no golf expert, but I can tell ya this much. This Harbour Town course, it’s been around a long time. Started way back in the 60s, they say. And this tournament, it’s been goin’ on for a good while too. They got some good golfers there, real good ones. I hear tell of this fella, Viktor Hovland, he’s pretty good, but he ain’t playin’ this year, for some reason or other.
How do they decide the winner then, if there’s no cut?
Well, it’s simple, really. They just add up all the scores for all four days. The fella with the lowest score, he’s the winner. That’s all there is to it. No fancy math or nothin’. Just plain and simple, the best golfer wins.
So, if you’re watchin’ the RBC Heritage on TV, don’t go lookin’ for no cut line. There ain’t one. Just sit back and enjoy watchin’ them fellas hit that little white ball around. And remember, they all get to play all four days. It’s a fair game, see?
Some other tournaments do have cuts
Now, don’t get confused, some of them other golf shows, like I said, they do have cuts. The U.S. Open, they cut it down to the top 60 players and ties after two days. And the Open Championship, that’s like the PGA Championship, they cut it to the top 70 and ties. But not our RBC Heritage, no sir. It’s different, it’s special.
So there you have it. No cut at the RBC Heritage. Everybody plays all four rounds. It’s a pretty straightforward thing, once you get the hang of it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some sweet tea.
