Okay, so I’ve been playing Castle Crashers again recently, and I got sucked into that whole “tier list” rabbit hole. You know, where everyone argues about which character is the best? I figured, why not actually put some time into it and figure it out for myself? So, that’s what I did. Here’s the breakdown of my Castle Crashers character ranking experiment.
My Castle Crashers Experiment
First, I decided to play through the game multiple times. I mean, how else are you gonna really know? I couldn’t just base it on what some random forum post said. I needed hands-on experience.

I started by picking a few characters that I always thought were pretty good, you know, the ones that seemed popular online. Like, the Red Knight, the Blue Knight, and the Industrialist. I played through the game, paying attention to how easy it was to beat bosses, how quickly I could clear hordes of enemies, and how often I died. Very scientific, I know.
- Red Knight: His magic is insane! Seriously, crowd control is a breeze.
- Blue Knight: Freezing enemies is super useful, especially those beefier guys.
- Industrialist: That buzzsaw magic… oof. Makes short work of almost anything.
Then, I tried some of the characters I didn’t think were so great. I figured I should give everyone a fair shot. This included guys like the Gray Knight, the Peasant, and… well, let’s just say some of the less-flashy characters.
Surprisingly, some of them weren’t half bad! The Gray Knight’s bombs, while kinda basic, were actually pretty effective in certain situations. But yeah, some of them… definitely struggled.
After several playthroughs, lots of notes, and probably way too much coffee, I started to see a pattern. Some characters just consistently performed better. It wasn’t just about raw power, either. It was about how easy they were to use, how versatile their magic was, and how well they could handle different situations.
I ended up making my own little tier list, just for fun. I’m not saying it’s the definitive, end-all-be-all ranking, but it’s based on my own actual gameplay. For me, the top-tier characters are those like Red Knight, Blue Knight, Industrialist/Fencer, and Alien Hominid. They’re just power houses. Characters that make you go woah!
But hey, that’s just my experience. The fun of Castle Crashers is experimenting and finding what works for you. And maybe yelling at your friends when they pick a character you deem “low tier.” Good times.
