Alright, let’s talk about them fellas, the UFC fighters from Mexico. You know, the ones who scrap in that cage thingy on TV. My grandson, he watches it all the time, yelling and hollering. Says they’re tough hombres, these Mexicans.
Now, I don’t know much about this fightin’ stuff, but I hear tell there’s quite a few of them Mexican fellas doing real good. Like that Brandon Moreno fella. They say he’s a flyweight, whatever that means. Sounds kinda light, like a chicken, but I bet he hits hard. Heard he does some kinda jujitsu thing, like wrestlin’ but with more twistin’ and turnin’. And wouldn’t you know it, he even won that championship belt thingy, twice! First Mexican to ever do it, they say. Made us all proud, even though I ain’t Mexican myself, but we all neighbors, ain’t we?
Then there’s this other fella, Henry Cejudo. Now, he’s a bit of a puzzle. Born in America, but Mexican, they say. Folks get all confused about that kinda stuff. He’s a fighter too, a good one, I reckon. Got a bunch of wins under his belt, they say.
You know, it ain’t just them two. Mexico, they got a whole bunch of fighters. They say it’s in their blood, like how we country folks are good at growin’ corn. They’re good at punchin’ and kickin’ and all that. Like them boxers, you know? Mexico’s famous for them too. Guess it’s just somethin’ they’re good at, like how some folks are good at singin’ and some at dancin’.
- Yair Rodriguez: Another one they talk about. Featherweight, they call him. Real popular, seems like everyone likes watchin’ him fight. He even won that show, that tough fella competition, back in the day. TUF somethin’ or other, they called it.
- Lots of others: And there’s a whole bunch more, names I can’t even remember. Too many of ‘em for this old brain to keep track. But they’re all tough, all scrappy, all Mexican.
They even got this special fight night, they call it Noche UFC. Happens every year, I think. It’s a big deal, like a fiesta, but with fightin’. They do it in Vegas, that fancy city with all the lights. And they show it on TV, so even us country folks can watch. They say it’s to celebrate somethin’ called Mexican Independence Day. Sounds important, like our Fourth of July. They make movies about Mexico too, all about their history and stuff.
Now, some folks say this Jon “Bones” Jones fella is the best fighter ever. He ain’t Mexican, but they still talk about him. Says he’s young and strong and smart. But I tell you what, them Mexican fighters, they ain’t nothin’ to sneeze at neither. They got heart, they got grit, and they got that fire in their bellies.
So, yeah, that’s what I know about them UFC fighters from Mexico. Tough fellas, all of ‘em. They make us proud, even if we ain’t Mexican ourselves. They represent somethin’ good, somethin’ strong, somethin’ worth fightin’ for. And that’s all there is to it, I reckon.
More about Mexican Fighters
These Mexican fellas, they train hard, you know. It ain’t just showin’ up and punchin’. They gotta lift weights, gotta run, gotta do all sorts of things to get strong. And they gotta learn how to fight, how to defend themselves, how to take a punch and keep on goin’. It’s a tough life, but they do it for the glory, they do it for their families, and they do it for Mexico.
And it ain’t just the men, neither. I hear tell there’s some Mexican women fighters too, tough as nails they are. But I don’t know much about them, to be honest. Maybe my grandson can tell me more sometime.
So, next time you see them Mexican fellas fightin’ on TV, remember what I told ya. They ain’t just punchin’ and kickin’. They’re representin’ a whole country, a whole culture, a whole lotta pride. And that’s somethin’ special, somethin’ worth watchin’.
