But then I stumbled upon this rabbit hole about fighters who’ve actually died. It’s some heavy stuff, man. I mean, I know fighting is a brutal sport, but actually reading about guys who lost their lives, it just hits different.
I started digging into it, and it got real dark, real fast. These fighters, they’re not just names on a screen. They’re real people, with families and everything. I found out about this one fighter, Kimbo Slice. I’d seen some of his fights before, the guy was a beast. But then I read that he died back in 2016, he was only 42 years old. Heart failure, can you believe it? It’s crazy to think that someone so strong and powerful could just…go like that.
Then, I came across another name, Guilherme Vasconcelos, some dude that was in both UFC and Bellator. He was only 38, and nobody’s saying how he died. I checked his Instagram, and he had posted a story just a day before, and now he’s gone. Just like that.
And let me tell you, it’s not a new thing. They say this whole mixed martial arts thing goes way back to ancient Greece. Back then, they had this sport called pankration, which was basically a mix of boxing and wrestling. And people died doing that, too.
