Okay, so everyone’s been buzzing about Helldivers 2, right? Dropping onto planets, spreading democracy, the usual chaos. I kept seeing some players running around with this really slick armor, kinda black with sharp gold trim. Looked pretty awesome, not gonna lie. Naturally, I started wondering how to get my hands on it myself.
Figuring it Out
First thing I did was just ask around in a couple of games. You know, “Hey, cool armor, where’d you get that?” Most folks pointed towards something called the “Super Citizen” edition. I hadn’t really paid attention to the different versions when I first bought the game, just jumped straight into the action.

So, next step, I went back to the main menu, poked around the store pages, both in-game and on the platform store where I got the game. Sure enough, there it was – an upgrade option to the Super Citizen Edition. It wasn’t just the armor, it came bundled with a few other things like a special title, a unique weapon, and access to that ‘Stratagem Hero’ mini-game on the ship.
Taking the Plunge
Alright, decision time. It cost a bit extra, obviously. Had a moment thinking, “Do I really need this?” But man, that armor just looked too good. It’s called the ‘DP-53 Savior of the Free’ set, apparently. I figured, I’m playing this game a lot, might as well look good while defending Super Earth, right? So, I pulled the trigger and bought the upgrade.
The process was simple enough, just clicked purchase, confirmed it, and bam, the extra content was unlocked for my account. No complicated quests or anything, which was nice for a change.
Checking Out the Goods
Immediately went to my ship’s Armory. Scrolled through the armor options, and there it was. The helmet, the body armor, the cape. All with that distinctive black and gold design. Looked even better up close in the customization screen.
- The Helmet: Pretty standard helmet shape but the gold visor and trim really make it pop.
- The Body Armor: This is the main event. Solid looking protection, again with those gold accents highlighting the edges and panels. Looks kinda high-tech and ceremonial at the same time.
- The Cape: Matches the set, black with a gold border. Snazzy.
Equipped the whole set. Gotta say, seeing my Helldiver decked out like that felt pretty cool. Stood there admiring it for a minute before jumping into a mission.
Showtime
Dropped onto some bug-infested rock with the new gear. Functionally, it’s just armor, offers the same protection stats you can get elsewhere depending on the type. But aesthetically? Yeah, felt good running around, blasting bugs and bots while looking like a proper hero of the federation. Caught the light nicely during explosions, too. A few teammates even gave the little salute emote when they saw it.

So yeah, that was basically my journey to getting the “golden outfit”. Found out it was part of the Super Citizen upgrade, decided to go for it, and now I’m dropping in style. Definitely happy with how it looks.
