Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with Baldur’s Gate 3 lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. Specifically, I wanted to see what the whole deal was with choosing between the Temple of Selûne and the Mountain Pass. Both paths are pretty tempting, but they lead you down some very different roads.
I started my journey by heading into the Underdark. The atmosphere there? Totally creepy. I’m talking glowing mushrooms, weird creatures, the whole nine yards. This was part of the Temple of Selûne route. I navigated through a bunch of twisty passages and ended up finding this hidden entrance to the temple. I mean, the place was ancient. You could almost feel the history seeping out of the walls.
- First off, I bumped into these goblin and drow folks. They were not happy to see me. We had a bit of a scuffle, but nothing my trusty sword couldn’t handle.
- Then, I had to solve some puzzles to get through the temple’s defenses. You know, the usual stuff: rotating statues, stepping on the right floor tiles, pulling levers in the right order. Made me feel like a real adventurer, haha.
Inside the temple, I found all sorts of clues about the Nightsong. Apparently, it’s some super important artifact, and everyone’s after it. I followed the trail, dealing with traps and more enemies. It felt like I was piecing together a big mystery, one step at a time.
Now, on the flip side, I also tried going through the Mountain Pass. This was a whole different vibe. Think rugged terrain, steep cliffs, and a lot more open-air fighting. This path is more straightforward combat-wise. I fought my way through githyanki patrols, which, let me tell you, are tough cookies. They have these silver swords that can mess you up big time.
- I cleared out an old monastery they were using as a base. The battles were intense, and I had to use every trick in the book to survive. Potions, spells, you name it.
- The scenery here was breathtaking, though. I remember standing on a cliff edge, looking out over the valleys. It was one of those moments where you just stop and appreciate the view, even if it’s in a game.
Choosing between the Temple and the Mountain Pass really changes up your game. The temple route is full of puzzles and has this eerie, mysterious feel. The Mountain Pass, on the other hand, is more about head-on fights and has some stunning landscapes. Both paths eventually lead you to the Shadow-Cursed Lands, but how you get there and what you experience along the way is totally different.
Decision Time
After going through both routes, I realized it all comes down to what you’re in the mood for. Feel like exploring ancient ruins and solving mysteries? Hit up the Temple of Selûne. Want to test your combat skills against some of the toughest enemies in the game? The Mountain Pass is your go-to. Personally, I enjoyed both, but for different reasons.
In the end, both paths were rewarding in their own way. I got some great loot, leveled up my party, and experienced some awesome storytelling. It’s one of those things that makes Baldur’s Gate 3 so engaging. You actually feel like your choices matter.
