Alright, so I’ve been diving deep into Overwatch 2 lately, trying to figure out the best way to climb the ranks. And you know what? Doomfist has been a blast, but he’s also tricky. He relies heavily on his team, especially his DPS buddies. So, I decided to really dig in and figure out which DPS heroes pair best with him. Here’s what I found after a bunch of games, some epic wins, and a few… well, let’s just call them “learning experiences.”
The Experiment Begins
First, I hopped into a bunch of Quick Play matches, just to get a feel for things. I locked in Doomfist every time, of course, and paid close attention to which DPS heroes my teammates picked. I started taking notes – literally, pen and paper – after each match, jotting down the DPS duo and how well we did.

My initial thought was, “Okay, I need someone who can follow up on my dives.” Doomfist is all about disruption, getting in, causing chaos, and getting out. So, I figured heroes with good range or mobility would be key.
Early Observations
- Tracer: Seemed like a natural fit. She’s super mobile, just like Doomfist, and can zip in to finish off anyone I weakened. We wrecked a few teams pretty handily when we coordinated our dives.
- Genji: Similar story to Tracer. High mobility, high burst damage. When we were both on point, it felt unstoppable. But if one of us messed up, it all fell apart pretty fast.
- Soldier: 76: I was surprised by how well this worked. His consistent damage output really helped secure kills, and his Helix Rockets could finish off low-health targets I punched away. Plus, his Biotic Field helped keep me alive during some riskier plays.
- Sombra: This one was hit-or-miss. When we timed our EMP and Doomfist’s Meteor Strike together, it was devastating. But if our coordination was off, it felt like we were just playing two separate games.
The Not-So-Great Combos
Of course, not everything was sunshine and rainbows. Some pairings were just… rough.
- Widowmaker: I thought the long-range support might be good, but it often felt like we were on different planets. I’d be brawling in the middle of the enemy team, and she’d be miles away, trying to get a headshot.
- Mei: This combo had serious anti-synergy. I’d slam into the enemy team, get them grouped up, and… she’d put up an Ice Wall, blocking my escape or my team’s follow-up. No thanks.
- Bastion: He sets up and I need to be mobile, the playstyles were completely diffrent.
Diving Deeper (Into Ranked)
After getting a good feel for things in Quick Play, I decided to take my research into Competitive. The stakes were higher, and the coordination (hopefully) would be better.
The biggest takeaway from my ranked games was that communication is everything. Even a “good” combo like Doomfist and Tracer can fall apart if you’re not talking to each other. Calling out targets, coordinating dives, and letting your team know when you’re going in (or getting out) makes a huge difference.
My Personal Top Picks (For Now)
Based on my experience, here are the DPS heroes I’m most excited to see on my team when I’m playing Doomfist:
- Soldier: 76: His consistent damage and self-sustain just make him a reliable partner. He can support me from a distance and clean up the mess I create.
- Tracer: When we’re in sync, it’s amazing. The key is communication and making sure we’re diving together.
- Echo: Echo’s mobility and ability to duplicate enemy heroes gives us a ton of flexibility. I have had some amazing moments.
I’m still experimenting, of course. The meta is always changing, and I’m sure I’ll discover new synergies and strategies. But for now, these are the DPS heroes I feel most confident playing alongside as Doomfist. And remember, communication is King. Let your team know what you’re doing, and you’ll climb that ladder in no time!
