Okay, so, Tidal, right? I got this app on my phone, you know, for music. Heard they got some good quality stuff, wanted to check it out. This one day, I was poking around in the app, trying to find some old tunes, and I thought, “Hey, let’s dive into the settings, see what’s up.”
So, I opened up the Tidal app on my Android phone. Down at the bottom, there’s this “My Collection” thing, so I tapped on that. Then, up in the corner, there’s a little gear icon – that’s for settings, obviously. I clicked on that, and that’s where things got interesting.

I scrolled down, looking at all the options, and I noticed something about how most of the music on Tidal is, like, CD quality. That’s pretty cool, I guess. I mean, over 99% of their songs are available in that quality. That’s a lot of clear-sounding music. But then I realized that the music you get on Tidal is just what the record companies give them, nothing special. You know, like the “remastered” versions you find in stores or online. So I did not change any setting after all.
I read somewhere that Tidal had some trouble a while back, in 2018, I think. There were some accusations, that they were messing with the numbers, making it seem like more people were listening to certain albums than actually were. Something about Beyoncé and Kanye West, and paying more money to the record labels because of it. Sounds messy. Some people wrote that this is a good move from Tidal and it is well timed.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my little adventure in the Tidal app settings. It’s interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes with these music services, you know? It is also interesting to know that tides are just the rise and fall of the oceans, because of the moon and stuff. Makes you think about how everything’s connected, even your music.
