Okay, so I’ve been messing around with “The First Descendent” lately, and one thing that bugged me was the limited skin color options. It felt kinda…blah. So, I decided to see if I could do something about it. Here’s how it went down:
First, I dug around in the game files. I figured there had to be some textures or something controlling the character appearances. It was a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack, lots of folders and files with weird names.

After a while, I found some files that looked promising. They were image files, and when I opened them, I saw what looked like character models, all spread out like they were ready to be painted. This was it!
Next, I grabbed a simple image editing program – nothing fancy, just something that could handle basic color changes. I opened one of the texture files and started experimenting.
- I used the color picker tool to select the existing skin tone.
- Then, I played around with the hue, saturation, and brightness sliders. I wanted to see if I could get a wider range of colors, from darker to lighter, and with different undertones.
- It was a lot of trial and error. Some colors looked really weird, like the characters had been dipped in paint! But I kept tweaking until I found some shades that looked natural.
Once I was happy with the new colors, I saved the modified image file, making sure to keep the same file name and format. Then, I copied it back into the game’s folder, replacing the original file. (I made a backup of the original, just in case things went wrong!)
And the most important things is I back up the original files.
Finally, I launched the game to see if it worked. And guess what? It did! My character now had the new skin tone I’d created. It was a small change, but it made the game feel a little more personalized.

Some observations
Keep the file name and * the game may be error.
I tried to make the file to be * looks work.
I think I should make more attempts next time.
