Okay, so, let me tell you about this little project I got myself into – making a playlist of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. You know, the original Fleetwood Mac, before all the pop stuff. This was way back in the late ’60s, early ’70s. I’ve always been a huge fan of the blues, and Peter Green, man, that guy could play guitar.
First thing I did was to dig out all my old Fleetwood Mac records. I’ve got a few vinyl, some CDs. It was like a trip down memory lane. I put them all on, one by one, just soaking it all in. It was quite the job. I mean we’re talking about three whole studio albums here, plus a bunch of singles. But it was fun, really took me back.
Then, I started making a list. I jotted down every song they did during those years, 1968 to 1971, when Green was in charge. There were some real gems, like “Albatross.” That one hit number one in the UK, can you believe it? An instrumental! Also had “Man of the World,” “Oh Well,” and “The Green Manalishi” – all top ten hits back then. It is wild to me that they were charting so high. Man, I used to listen to these songs all the time.

Next, I had to narrow it down. I mean, I couldn’t just put every single song on there, right? So I started picking out my favorites, the ones that really showed off Green’s guitar playing and the band’s bluesy sound. It was tough, really tough. So many great songs. But I managed to come up with a solid list.
I decided to call it “The Best of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.” I thought the name fit. I spent hours, days even, listening to the songs over and over, trying to get the order just right. I wanted it to flow, you know? Not just be a random collection of songs. I wanted it to tell a story, Peter’s story I guess.
Finally, I had it. My perfect playlist. I burned it onto a CD, made a cool little cover for it. Old school, I know, but I like it that way. Now, whenever I want to hear some classic Fleetwood Mac, some real blues, I just pop in that CD. It’s like having a little piece of history right there in my living room.
It was a fun project. A lot of work, sure, but totally worth it. Reminded me why I fell in love with this music in the first place. If you’re into blues, or just good music, you should check out some of those early Fleetwood Mac songs. You won’t be disappointed.
