Alright, folks, let’s talk about my journey diving deep into the Tekken 8 tier list madness. I’m no pro, but I’ve been putting in some serious hours, labbing combos, and getting my butt kicked online, all in the name of figuring out who’s hot and who’s not in this game.
First, I started by, you know, actually playing the game. A lot. I picked a few characters that looked cool – shoutout to my boy Jin – and just started mashing buttons. I got destroyed, obviously. But that’s part of the process, right?
Then, I decided I needed to get a little more… structured. I started looking at what the pros and the top players were saying. Which Characters get constantly picked or constantly win. You see the same names popping up: Dragunov, Devil Jin, Azucena… you get the idea.
But I didn’t just want to blindly follow the “pros”. I wanted to understand why these characters were considered top-tier. So, I went into practice mode. For hours. I started looking at frame data. and range.
- What moves are safe on block?
- What are their best pokes?
- How do they open up turtles?
- Do they have strong mix-ups?
- What is their wall carry like?
I started experimenting. Trying out different combos, setups, and strategies. Seeing what worked, what didn’t, and why. I kept a little notebook (yeah, I’m old school) and jotted down notes on each character. Strengths, weaknesses, matchups… everything.
Getting my hands dirty. Playing round after round and learning with every lose and win.
The more I played, the more I started to form my own opinions. Some characters that were considered “low tier” by the community, I actually found pretty effective in certain situations. Others that were hyped up… well, let’s just say I wasn’t as impressed.
My Conclusion (For Now)
My Tekken 8 tier list is still a work in progress. It’s constantly evolving as I learn more, as the meta shifts, and as new tech is discovered. Also, Bandai Namco release patches to balance and adjust characters. This is my experience and list so far, based on playing, reaserching, and testing.
