Okay, so I wanted to mess around with creating some enemies in Sumeru. I’ve been playing a lot lately, and I thought, “Why not try to make my own?” So, I started by looking at the existing enemies, you know, the Eremites, the Fungi, all those guys.
First, I observed. Like, really watched how they moved, how they attacked, what their weaknesses were. I played the game specifically to analyze them, not just to beat them up (though, that happened too!).

Then, I started brainstorming some ideas. I jotted down notes like, “What if there was a Fungus that could, like, explode into smaller Fungi?” or “Maybe an Eremite that uses Dendro and Geo together?” Just wild stuff, throwing ideas at the wall to see what stuck.
The First Enemy: Exploding Shroom-Buddy
- Concept: A large mushroom that explodes into smaller, aggressive mushrooms when defeated.
- Abilities:
- Spore Burst: Explodes, dealing AoE Dendro DMG and releasing Mini-Shrooms.
- Headbutt: A simple melee attack.
I spent a good chunk of time just thinking about this one. I even sketched out some rough designs. Don’t laugh, my art skills are… developing.
The Second Enemy: Eremite Sandshaper
- Concept: An Eremite that uses a combination of Dendro and Geo.
- Abilities:
- Sand Blast: A ranged attack that deals Geo DMG and applies a “Slow” debuff.
- Vine Whip: A melee attack that deals Dendro DMG and has a chance to “Entangle” the player.
- Sand Wall: Creates a temporary Geo construct for defense.
For this one, I tried to think about how the two elements could interact. Like, maybe the sand could be infused with Dendro to make it stickier or something. It was fun to imagine the possibilities.
I haven’t actually, like, made these enemies in the game or anything. I don’t have those skills! But it was a really fun thought experiment. And hey, maybe one day I’ll learn how to mod and actually bring these guys to life. For now, though, it’s back to playing the game and getting inspiration for more crazy enemy ideas!
