Alright, folks, let’s dive into my recent Baldur’s Gate 3 dilemma: Shar’s Temple or Ketheric Thorm? I spent a good chunk of time scratching my head over this one, so I figured I’d share my playthrough and thought process.
Initially, I was all gung-ho about tackling the Gauntlet of Shar. I mean, who doesn’t love a good dungeon crawl, right? Plus, I wanted to see what was up with Shadowheart’s story.
So, I headed into the temple, and wow, it’s a big place. I started poking around, solving those little shadow gem puzzles – felt pretty clever figuring those out, not gonna lie. I fought my way through those pesky Justiciars, which was a bit of a pain, but manageable.
The Trials of Shar
- The Soft-Step Trial: Stealth is not my forte, but I managed to sneak my way through. Took a few tries, I admit.
- The Self-Same Trial: This one was tricky! Fighting copies of my own party? Brutal. I finally beat it by focusing fire on their healer first. Smart, huh?
- The Faith-Leap Trial: Okay, this was cool. Invisible pathways? I loved the concept, even if I fell a couple of times figuring it out.
After all that, I got to the Nightsong. And… things got complicated. My choices felt heavy, and I really wasn’t sure what the “right” thing to do was. No spoilers, but it was a major turning point.
The Ketheric Conundrum
Then there’s Ketheric. He’s this big, bad, seemingly invincible dude, and I knew confronting him was inevitable. Part of me wanted to delay that fight as much as possible. I figured I’d explore everything else first, level up my party, get better gear, you know, the usual RPG stuff.
But then, the more I learned about Ketheric and his connection to the Nightsong, the more I realized I couldn’t just ignore him. The story kept pulling me in that direction.
My Decision and the Aftermath
After much internal debate, and almost loading an earlier, I will decide to get Shar’s thing over with first.
So, I went back to Moonrise, geared up, and took on Ketheric. It was a tough, multi-stage battle, but it felt… right. Like I was finally addressing the core issue.
Without giving away too much, dealing with the temple first and the Nightsong issue felt like the proper order. After that, Ketheric felt like a more conclusive bossfight.
I think, at least for my playthrough, tackling Shar’s Temple before facing Ketheric was the way to go. It felt narratively satisfying and gave me a stronger sense of purpose going into that final confrontation. Your mileage may vary, of course, but that’s how it played out for me!
