Alright, so I wanted to mess around with the Shadowfell in Baldur’s Gate 3. I’d heard some chatter online about it, and figured, why not dive in and see what all the fuss is about?
First, I had to actually get there. Now, this wasn’t as simple as just strolling through a portal. I had to follow the main questline for a good while, getting through some of the early game areas, and making sure I was leveled up enough to not get instantly squashed.

Finding the Entrance
I won’t spoil too much, but the entrance involves a certain temple, and lets just say, puzzles. Lots of puzzles. I spent a good couple of hours just figuring out how to get those darn doors open. My advice? Pay attention to the environment, look for clues, and don’t be afraid to experiment.
Navigating the Shadowfell
- Darkness, My Old Friend: This place is DARK. Make sure you’ve got some light sources. I went with torches, but spells or items that give off light work great too.
- Shadow Creatures:These guys are not friendly. I had a few close calls, so my advice is to be prepared for a fight, maybe bring some radiant damage if you can, it hurts them more.
- Weird Atmosphere: The whole place has this oppressive, creepy vibe. It’s awesome, but also kinda unsettling. Just saying, be prepared to feel a little spooked. I found a place that affect my characters, giving them debuff.
The Reward
I can’t go into detail to avoid major spoiler, all I can say is that I spent more than a few tries to finish a particular event in this place.
Anyway, that was my little adventure into the Shadowfell. It was tough, a bit frustrating at times, but ultimately, a really cool experience. If you’re playing Baldur’s Gate 3, I definitely recommend checking it out!
