Okay, so, “disturbed cardboard zzz” – sounds weird, right? It all started with my cat, Mittens. She’s obsessed with cardboard boxes, like every other cat on the planet. Usually, she just curls up and sleeps in them, peaceful as can be. But lately, she’s been…restless.
I noticed she was tossing and turning in her favorite box, a big one that used to hold my new blender. She’d twitch, meow softly, and sometimes even fall out! It was kinda funny at first, but then I got a little worried. Was she having bad dreams? Was the cardboard uncomfortable?

My Little Experiment
So, I decided to do a little experiment. I gathered a few different types of cardboard:
- The original blender box (thick, sturdy)
- A shoebox (flimsy)
- A pizza box (greasy, but she loves the smell)
- A packing box with those bubble wrap things inside
First observation, I try the original, same thing, disturbed sleep.
I put each box in her usual sleeping spot, one at a time, and watched what happened. The shoebox was a disaster – she kept poking her head out and looked super annoyed. The pizza box was a hit for about five minutes, then she got bored and went back to trying to sleep in the blender box, still restless.
The packing box with the bubble wrap? Nope. She hated the crinkling sound. It was like a horror movie for her.
Finally, I went back to the original blender box. I flipped it over so the smooth, inside part was facing up. I also added a soft, old towel inside. And guess what?

She curled up, purred, and slept like a baby. No twitching, no falling out, just peaceful, undisturbed zzz’s. It turns out, the rough, printed side of the cardboard was probably irritating her. And the towel made it extra cozy.
So, “disturbed cardboard zzz” solved! It was a simple fix, really. Just needed to flip the box and add a little softness. Now Mittens is back to her usual, cardboard-loving self. And I learned that even cats can be picky about their sleeping arrangements.
