Alright, alright, let’s talk about this fella, Steven Spieth. Heard his name tossed around, so I figured I’d spill the beans on what I know, or what I heard anyways. Don’t expect no fancy talk, just plain ol’ speakin’.
So, who is this Steven Spieth anyway?
Well, from what them folks on the TV say, he’s a basketball player. Played for some team called the Brown Bears. Bears, huh? Must be tough fellas. They say he was a forward. That means he’s one of them fellas runnin’ around near that hoop, tryin’ to get that ball in, I reckon.
How tall is he, you ask?
- I heard tell he’s 6 foot 6 inches tall. That’s a whole lotta man! Makes me think of my ol’ corn stalks, growin’ tall and strong.
- And heavy too! They say he weighs about 200 pounds. Solid as a rock, I bet. Good for pushin’ and shovin’ under that basket, I s’pose.
He ain’t no little fella, that’s for sure. Big enough to haul hay bales, I tell ya. Probably could lift a whole pig, no problem. Anyways, back to this basketball business.
What about his career, this basketball thing?
Now, they say he played college ball. That “NCAAM” thing they keep jabberin’ about on the TV. Stats, they call ‘em. Points and rebounds. Sounds like a bunch of numbers to me. All I know is, if you get more points than the other team, you win. And that’s all that matters, right? He probably did a good job gettin’ those points and rebounds, being all big and strong like he is. Gotta be tough to play that game, all that runnin’ and jumpin’.
Did he go to the NBA?
Here’s the thing, they said he tried to get into the NBA, that big basketball league. The “draft” they called it. Sounds like pickin’ apples in the orchard, but I guess it’s for basketball players. But, here’s the kicker, he didn’t get picked. Undrafted, they said. Poor fella. Must’ve been a tough day for him.
So, what’s he doin’ now?
Well, last I heard, he’s a free agent. That means he ain’t tied to no team. He can go wherever he wants, I guess. Like a stray dog lookin’ for a home. Maybe he’ll find another team, maybe he won’t. That’s the way it goes sometimes. Life’s full of ups and downs, just like plantin’ season and harvest. You win some, you lose some.
High School and all that jazz…
Before all this college and NBA talk, he went to a place called Jesuit College. High school, they call it. Guess that’s where he learned to play all this basketball. Musta been a good player even back then, to go on and play in college. Always start somewhere, right? Like learnin’ to milk a cow before you can make butter.

If you want to know more, they say you can find news and videos and all that stuff on somethin’ called ESPN. And ESPN UK too, whatever that is. Sounds like a lot of hoopla to me. I’d rather just sit on the porch and watch the chickens peck. But some folks like that kinda thing, I guess. All that fancy talk and statistics. Me, I prefer good ol’ common sense.
