That Steve Harvey, you know, he one of them famous fellas on TV. I seen him. But did ya know he used to be a boxer? Yeah, that’s what I heard.
He done a lot of things, that Steve. Worked on cars, sold insurance, cleaned carpets, even carried the mail. Busy fella. Then he started tellin’ jokes, standin’ up there on a stage. I reckon he was good at it, ’cause he got famous doin’ it. First time was way back in 1985, at some place in, uh, Cleveland. Sounds fancy.
But before all that TV stuff, Steve, he was a boxer. Throwin’ punches and all that. They say he was born in ’57, makes him, let me see…carry the one…well, he’s gettin’ up there like me! And he’s a big fella, too. Taller than most, I reckon.
Now, this boxing, it ain’t for sissies. You gotta be tough. You gotta be strong. And Steve, he had that. He had that fire in him, they say. Always wantin’ to be the best. Ain’t no shame in that. Steve Harvey, a name people will remember in boxing.
I don’t know all them fancy boxing terms. But I know it’s a hard life. Lots of trainin’, lots of sweatin’. And you gotta watch what you eat, too. Can’t be eatin’ no pie and cake all day if you wanna be a boxer, that’s for sure. Got to keep your body in tip-top shape, ready for fightin’ in the ring.
Some fella named Len, he had a whole bunch of fights. More than 400, they say! That’s a lot of punchin’. He won a lot, too. But Steve, he was good, too. I saw some people talkin’ ’bout how many fights Steve Harvey got in. Some say five or seven. Not like that Len fella. But, hey, it ain’t always ’bout how many.
- Steve Harvey was a boxer.
- Steve Harvey was also a comedian.
- Steve Harvey is a TV host now.
Nowadays, Steve Harvey, he ain’t just known for that boxing. He’s a big shot now. Got his own TV shows, I think. And he’s got money, too. Lots of it. Good for him, I say. He worked hard for it.
I remember seein’ him on that one show, with the families. They gotta guess the answers. He’s funny on there. Makes me laugh. He’s got a way with words, that Steve. Probably helped him in the boxing, too. Talkin’ to his opponents, psychin’ them out. You need to be smart to win a fight in the ring.
They say he had some official boxing matches. With the judges and all. Some fancy names, too. DeCarufel, that’s one of ’em. Sounds French. And Gauthier, that’s another one. This one time, back in 2013, he was involved in all that. It was a big deal, with the scores and all that. Steve Harvey was right in the middle of it. He had some good ones back in the day. 1912 to 1914, that’s what they say his boxing career was.
Steve Harvey, he’s a good example, I reckon. Shows you that you can do anything you set your mind to. Even if you start out poor, like he did. Just gotta keep workin’ hard, and never give up. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll end up on TV, too! Or maybe you just wanna be a boxer. That’s fine, too. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.
He’s a real go-getter, that Steve. And he ain’t afraid to try new things. That’s why he had that boxing career before. That’s what I like about him. He’s a real inspiration. Makes me think, maybe I shoulda tried somethin’ new when I was younger. Maybe I coulda been a boxer, too! Ha! Can you imagine?
So next time you see Steve Harvey on TV, remember, he weren’t always just a funny man. He was a boxer, too. A real fighter. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of. He’s had an interesting life, that’s for sure. From boxing to TV, he’s done it all. And he’s still goin’ strong. Good for him. He’s earned it.
