Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with this new character, Yunli, in Honkai Star Rail. I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about her, and you know, gotta see what the hype is about.
First thing I did was hop into the game and pull up Yunli’s info. She’s apparently a counter-attack focused character, which sounds pretty cool. I noticed she gets a decent crit rate boost from her traces, something like 6.6%. Not bad, not bad.
Then I started digging into her kit. It looks like it’s all about that talent counter and enhanced ultimate counter. The description says when she gets hit, she gets energy and can counter-attack right away. So, the idea is to let her get smacked around a bit, which is kind of weird, but okay. Her base speed is low, but getting hit seems to charge her up pretty fast.
I spent some time just throwing her into battles to see how this plays out. I noticed that I could cast her ultimate at half the energy cost if I timed it right, mostly after she had been countering a few attacks. It felt a little counterintuitive at first, waiting for her to get hit to build up energy, but once I got the hang of it, it was kind of fun.
Team Building
Next, I started thinking about team composition. It seems like Topaz, Robin, and Tingyun are supposed to be her best buddies. They can apparently boost her counter-attacks or something. So, I put together a team with Yunli as the main DPS, Topaz and Robin as supports, and threw in Aventurine for sustain because, well, you gotta stay alive.
Gameplay and Strategy
- Start of Battle: I’d usually start by letting Yunli take a few hits. It felt weird not attacking right away, but it was necessary to build up her ultimate.
- Mid-Battle: Once she had some energy, I’d start using her skill more. The counters were dishing out decent damage, especially with the buffs from Topaz and Robin.
- Ultimate Timing: I tried to save her ultimate for when she was at half energy after a counter-attack. This way, it was cheaper and I could use it more often.
After playing a bunch of rounds, I went online to see what other people were saying. Found a Discord server where folks were crunching numbers on her best gear. They were saying the best relics for her right now are “wind-soaring valorous” and “Duran, Dynasty of running wolves.” I don’t have those yet, so I made a note to start farming them.
Overall, it was a fun day experimenting with Yunli. She’s definitely a unique character with a playstyle that takes some getting used to. But once you figure out the rhythm of letting her get hit and then unleashing those counters, she can be a beast. I’m definitely going to keep playing around with her and see how much damage I can really pump out. It’s a work in progress, but that’s part of the fun, right?
