Next, I hit up the game’s settings. I went to my library, right-clicked on Starfield, and found the “Local Files” tab. There’s a button there to verify the game files. I thought, “This has got to be it!” But nope, the “Lookup Failed” error was still there, staring me in the face.
Okay, time to dig deeper. I remembered someone mentioning something about a “strings” folder. I found it in the Starfield data folder. Some genius suggested renaming it to “stringsxxxx” or something like that, I did it, and you know what? It was just that simple.
Honestly, I was pretty shocked that such a simple fix worked. But hey, I’m not complaining! Finally, I could get back to exploring the galaxy without that stupid error message. So, if you’re pulling your hair out over this “Lookup Failed” thing, give this strings folder trick a try. It might just save your sanity!
Here’s what I did, step by step:
- Found the Starfield data folder in my game installation directory.
- Looked for a folder named “strings”.
- Renamed it to “stringsxxxx”.
- Restarted the game.
