Okay, so I was messing around trying to come up with some cool names for my character in Starfield. You know, something that really screams “space explorer extraordinaire!” But honestly, I was drawing a blank. My brain just kept spitting out boring stuff like “John” and “Sarah”. Ugh.
So, I started googling around for some inspiration. I figured there had to be some kind of name generator out there, specifically for Starfield. And guess what? There are a bunch!

Finding the Perfect Generator
I stumbled upon a few different options. Some were pretty basic, just kind of mashing together random syllables. Others were a bit more sophisticated, letting you choose things like “origin” or “personality” to influence the results.
I played around with a couple of them. It was kind of fun! One generator gave me names like “Zylthrax” and “Quirkon”. Those were… interesting, but maybe a bit too out there, even for a sci-fi game.
Experimenting with Options
Then I found one that let me specify if I wanted a more “grounded” or “fantastical” name. That was helpful! I toggled that setting back and forth a few times, seeing what kind of names it would spit out.
- I tried “grounded” first, and got some decent options, like “Ryder Vance” and “Lena Petrova”. Those felt more like actual astronaut names, which I liked.
- Then I switched to “fantastical”, and things got wilder. “Xylarion Starstrider” and “Nyx Shadowmoon” popped up. A bit much for my taste, but hey, maybe that’s your thing!
My Result
Ultimately, I went with a name that was somewhere in the middle. I liked the “grounded” feel, but I wanted something with a little bit of a sci-fi twist. after using a bit more than five of them,Finally, I got a good one!
It’s not perfect, but at least it is much better than before I use those name generators.
Anyway, that’s how I spent part of my afternoon. It was a fun little distraction, and I actually ended up with a character name I’m pretty happy with. If you’re struggling to come up with a Starfield name, I definitely recommend checking out some of those generators. You might be surprised at what you find!
