Alright, so I spent some time messing around with the battle pass in Zenless Zone Zero recently. Figured I’d share how it went down, step-by-step, just my own experience with it.
Deciding to Jump In
Initially, I wasn’t sure. You know how these things are, always asking for a bit of cash. But I was playing ZZZ quite a bit anyway, logging in most days. Saw the extra rewards track, especially the stuff I’m calling the ‘wengine’ – you know, the premium pulls and maybe some character upgrade materials. Thought, okay, let’s give the paid version a shot this time around, see if it actually feels worth it compared to just sticking with the free path. So, I pulled the trigger and bought the upgrade.

The Daily Grind Kicked Off
Once I got it, the routine started. It basically layered on top of what I was already doing.
- Logged in daily, made sure to grab the login bonuses.
- Focused on clearing out the daily missions – stuff like running commissions, doing a few Hollow runs, maybe upgrading some gear or W-Engines.
- Then tackled the weekly missions which needed a bit more effort, like completing a certain number of the deeper Hollow explorations or fighting specific bosses.
It wasn’t rocket science, mostly just playing the game consistently. Sometimes it felt like a chore, gotta admit, especially when I was short on time. But I kept thinking about leveling up that pass to get the goodies.
Watching the Levels Go Up and Getting the ‘Wengine’
Checking the battle pass screen became a regular thing. Every time I finished a batch of tasks, I’d pop over to claim the rewards. Seeing that XP bar fill up felt pretty satisfying. The free track gave some basic stuff, which was fine. But the real reason I paid was for that premium track.
Claiming the rewards there felt better. Got some standard materials, the Denarii credits, sure. But the main target was hitting those levels that gave out the premium currency – the ‘wengine’ for pulling on banners. Getting those felt like the main payoff. It wasn’t a massive flood of it, but it was definitely more than you’d get just from playing normally without the pass. I stacked it up, aiming for a specific banner that was coming up.
Was It Worth the Effort?
So, looking back after hitting a high level on the pass? Yeah, I think it kinda was, for me at least. The extra ‘wengine’ was noticeable. It let me do a few more pulls than I would have otherwise, which is always the main draw in these games, right? Plus, the extra materials smoothed out some of the character progression bumps.
It didn’t feel like a total game-changer, mind you. You still gotta play a lot. But if you’re already committed to playing ZZZ regularly, putting in the hours, the paid pass does give you a decent little boost, mostly in terms of that premium ‘wengine’ and some resources. It basically makes your time spent feel a bit more rewarded.

If you’re only playing casually, maybe logging in once or twice a week? Probably not worth paying for. You won’t level it up enough. But for a daily player? It added some value without demanding too much extra effort beyond just playing normally.
That’s pretty much my run-through of it. Just one player’s take on the ZZZ battle pass grind and getting that ‘wengine’.
