Okay, so today I decided to mess around with creating that “Dexter Lumis entrance” thing. You know, the one where he just kinda… appears? I’m no video editor, but I figured, why not give it a shot?
The Setup
First, I grabbed my phone. No fancy camera here, just my trusty old phone. I propped it up on a stack of books in my living room. The lighting was, well, it was whatever my living room lights normally look like. Definitely not professional, haha.

Action! (Or, Lack Thereof…)
I set the timer on my phone’s camera. Then, I stood really, really still in the middle of the room. My goal was to channel my inner Dexter Lumis and be as motionless as humanly possible. I might have even held my breath. It was harder than it looks, let me tell you.
I did a few takes. I do n times, just staring into my soul.
The “Editing”
Now for the “magic” part. I opened up a free video editing app on my phone. Nothing special, just something basic. I imported the video clips. Then, I spent a good chunk of time fiddling with the “jump cut” feature. Basically, I just chopped out little bits of the video where I blinked or moved even slightly.
- Find the spot where I twitched.
- Cut that part out.
- Repeat a million times.
It was tedious, to say the least. My eyes started to cross after a while.
The Result
The final product? Well, it’s… something. It’s definitely not smooth. It’s kinda jerky and amateurish, but hey, I made it! It sort of, kind of, looks like I’m just appearing and disappearing in my living room. Mission accomplished, I guess? It was a fun little experiment, even if it looks a bit rough around the edges. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime with better lighting and a steadier hand. Or maybe I’ll just leave it to the professionals.
