Hey, what’s up, guys? It’s your boy back again with another story from my journey, and let me tell you, this one’s a doozy. So, I was scrolling through some wrestling forums the other day, you know, just catching up on the latest, and I saw this post about Scott Hall’s signature surfer walk. And I thought, “Damn, that’s cool, I wanna try that.”
Now, I’ve always been a huge wrestling fan, and Scott Hall, Razor Ramon himself, was one of my favorites. His swagger, his style, the way he carried himself – the guy was just cool, you know? And that surfer walk he did? Iconic. I always thought it looked awesome, and I figured, “Why not give it a shot?”
So, I started by watching some old clips of Hall doing his entrance. I wanted to really get the details down. The way he kind of bounced on the balls of his feet, the arm movements, the whole vibe – I watched those videos over and over again. I’d pause, rewind, and really study his movements. I felt like a detective, looking for all the clues to crack the code of the surfer walk.
Then came the practice. I cleared some space in my living room, put on some music, and just started trying it out. At first, it felt awkward, man. I’m not gonna lie. I felt like I was all arms and legs, no coordination. I kept stumbling, losing my balance, and I’m pretty sure I looked ridiculous. My dog was giving me these weird looks, like, “What are you doing, human?”
But I didn’t give up. I kept at it, practicing every day. I’d do it in front of the mirror, trying to match my movements to what I saw in the videos. Slowly but surely, I started to get the hang of it. The bounce, the arm swing, the little head nod – it all started to come together. I even tried adding in the wrist flick and the hair slide, just like he did. I even threw a toothpick a few times, but I kept poking my eye. I figured I better master the walk first.
After a few weeks of practice, I felt like I had it down pretty good. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely recognizable as Scott Hall’s surfer walk. I even got brave enough to try it out in public. I was walking down the street, feeling confident, and I just busted out the walk. A few people gave me some strange looks, but who cares? I was having fun, paying tribute to one of my wrestling heroes.
- I did it because I wanted to show him my “Scott Hall ring walk.”
- I also heard Damian Priest, a WWE Superstar, asked for Scott Hall’s permission to use his entrance and finisher! I thought that was super cool and respectful.
- I saw the way the fans reacted when he did it, and I wanted to feel that energy, even if it was just for myself.
Here’s the thing, though
It’s not just about imitating a move. It’s about the feeling, the attitude, the connection to something bigger than yourself. And for me, doing that surfer walk was a way to connect with my love for wrestling, to pay homage to a legend, and to just have some fun. So, yeah, that’s the story of how I learned Scott Hall’s surfer walk. It wasn’t easy, it took some time, and I probably looked silly a few times, but in the end, it was totally worth it. Peace out, guys.
I also knew that the wrestling legend Scott Hall, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer and a founding member of the nWo faction, has passed away, he was 63. And his son Cody said, “he feels so different now.” That’s so sad, man.
So, I want to keep his memory alive through his iconic surfer walk.
