Alright, folks, let’s talk about Remembrance Coffins in Elden Ring. I spent a good chunk of yesterday figuring this out, and boy, was it a journey. So, I documented my entire process from the beginning to the end!
First, I booted up the game, ready to tackle whatever the Lands Between threw at me. I’d heard whispers about these Remembrance Coffins, but I didn’t really get them. I mean, what are they, really?

My Confusing Start
I initially just stumbled around. I defeated a few shardbearers, got their Great Runes, and thought, “Okay, cool, now what?” I knew I could get boss weapons, but how? I messed around at the Roundtable Hold, talked to Enia, got some stuff, but it felt incomplete. Some bosses I KNEW dropped cool stuff, and I had their Remembrances, but I wasn’t getting all the options.
The “Aha!” Moment
So, I went online. I scoured some forums, nothing clear, then stumbled across some mentions of “Walking Mausoleums.” That sounded promising. I went back into the game and started exploring more thoroughly.
I found one of those giant, lumbering, bell-ringing guys – a Walking Mausoleum. Attacked its legs, got it to crash down, and went inside. Boom! Suddenly, I could duplicate a Remembrance. I felt like a genius (even though I totally looked it up).
Figuring Out The System
The key is this:
- Beat a Shardbearer, get their Great Rune and Remembrance.
- Find a Walking Mausoleum (the big, walking, bell-ringing things).
- Knock it down by attacking the skulls on its legs or body.
- Go inside the Mausoleum.
- Choose a Remembrance to duplicate.
Now I am duplicating Remembrances left and right. That way, I can get BOTH the boss weapon and the spell, or whatever other cool stuff the Remembrance offers. It felt SO good to finally figure it out.
I am now feeling like a true Elden Lord, one duplicated Remembrance at a time. I have a better understanding of the Remembrance Coffin system, and plan on keeping track of all the Remembrance Coffins and their locations in future playthroughs!
