Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this young fella, Scotty Scheffler. He’s been winnin’ all sorts of golf games lately, they call ’em PGA somethin’ or other. Folks are makin’ a big fuss, sayin’ he’s real good.
This Scotty kid, he just won another one of them big golf tournaments, the Tour Championship they call it. That makes thirteen wins for him, can ya believe it? Thirteen! That’s a whole lotta wins, even for someone who plays golf all day long. I reckon he must be pretty darn good at hittin’ that little white ball.
They say he’s the number one golfer in the whole wide world now. Number one! Imagine that. He’s better than all them other fellas whacking golf balls. I guess that means he gets to take home a whole bunch of money, too. Speakin’ of money, they say he made a whole heap of it this year. Millions and millions, they say. Lord have mercy, that’s more money than I can even imagine. More money than anyone in my whole town has ever seen, I reckon.
- He won somethin’ called the FedExCup.
- He got a bonus for bein’ in the top ten.
- He even got some extra cash at some place called the Hero.
All that money just for hittin’ a little ball around a field. It’s a crazy world, ain’t it?
Now, they’re comparin’ him to this fella Tiger Woods. You know, that famous golfer everyone talks about. They say Tiger won a whole lot more, eighty-somethin’ times, I think. But this Scotty fella, he’s still young, got plenty of time to catch up, I suppose. Maybe he’ll even beat Tiger’s record one day. Who knows?
This golf tournament he just won, the Tour Championship, that was a big deal. It was the end of the season, the last game they play. And he won it! That’s like winnin’ the Super Bowl of golf, I guess. He finished eight under par. I don’t rightly know what that means, but it sounds impressive. They say he won five out of his last eight games. That’s a pretty good streak, even I can understand that. He’s on a roll, that Scotty fella.
There’s this place in Illinois, called TPC Deere Run, where they play another one of these golf games, the John Deere Classic. They’ve been playin’ it there since the year 2000. That’s a long time. I wonder if Scotty ever played there. Probably did. Seems like he’s played everywhere.
So yeah, that’s the story of Scotty Scheffler, this young golf whiz. He’s winnin’ all the time, makin’ lots of money, and folks are sayin’ he’s the best there is. Good for him, I say. He seems like a nice young man, even if I don’t understand half of what they say about his golfin’. It’s just a game, after all, but it sure seems to make some folks awful happy.
He’s won five of his last eight starts, that’s what they say. And let me tell you, that ain’t easy. Even I know that much about golf. You gotta be real steady, real consistent, to win that much. This Scotty, he seems to have it all figured out. He knows how to hit that ball just right, I guess. And he keeps winnin’. That’s the important part, ain’t it? Winnin’.
And all that money he’s won… well, I just hope he spends it wisely. Maybe he’ll buy himself a nice farm, settle down somewhere quiet. That’s what I’d do. But these young folks, they got different ideas, I reckon. They like the bright lights, the big cities. Well, to each their own, I always say.
So, that’s the story of Scotty Scheffler, as best as I can tell it. He’s a winnin’ machine, that’s for sure. And he’s makin’ a name for himself in the world of golf. Good for him, I say. Good for him.
