Alright, so listen up, y’all. We gonna talk about this fella, John McEnroe, and this thing called Parkinson’s. Don’t know much about it myself, but I heard it ain’t no fun. It’s like, your body starts acting up, you know? Shaking and stuff. Not a good time, I tell ya.
Now, this John, he used to be a tennis player, a real good one, they say. Whacked that little ball around like nobody’s business. Won a bunch of things, made a name for himself. Then he went on TV, talkin’ about sports. You mighta seen him. He’s that fella with the curly hair, always yappin’. Seems like a good enough guy, even if he does get worked up sometimes.
- He played tennis. Real good.
- Then he talked on TV.
- He got this Parkinson’s thing, poor fella.
So, this Parkinson’s, it’s a real bother. Makes it hard for folks to do everyday things. Like, walkin’ straight, or holdin’ a fork steady. I seen it happen to folks, and it ain’t pretty. But them doctors, they’re workin’ on it, tryin’ to figure out how to make it better. They got all kinds of treatments now, I hear. Pills and stuff. And they’re always lookin’ for new ways to help, thank the Lord.
They talk about “advancements” and “research.” Fancy words, but what it means is they’re tryin’ to find a cure. A way to stop this shakin’ and stumblin’. It ain’t easy, but they’re pluggin’ away. Like that Michael J. Fox fella. He’s got it too, and he started a whole foundation to help out. Good for him, I say. Someone’s gotta do somethin’.
John, he’s got it now too, this Parkinson’s. Heard he talked about it on TV. Brave fella, to come out and say it like that. Lots of folks keep it quiet, ashamed or somethin’. But there ain’t no shame in bein’ sick. It’s just bad luck, is all. And John, he’s fightin’ it. Just like he fought on the tennis court, I reckon. He ain’t givin’ up.
And them doctors at Stanford, they’re doin’ their part too. Cookin’ up somethin’ new, they say. A “simple” somethin’, whatever that means. Hope it works. Hope it helps John and all the other folks with this shakin’ disease. It’s a tough road, but they ain’t alone. Lots of folks care, lots of folks are prayin’. And that counts for somethin’, you know?
John, he was born over in Germany, but he grew up in New York. His daddy was a lawyer, worked hard. John, he worked hard too, playin’ tennis and then talkin’ on TV. He even got himself in a band for a while! Played music, can you believe it? Seems like he’s always been a busy fella, always doin’ somethin’. Even now, with this Parkinson’s, he’s still out there, still talkin’, still fightin’. That’s the spirit, I say. Don’t let nothin’ get you down.
So, there you have it. John McEnroe, Parkinson’s, and a whole lotta folks tryin’ to make things better. It ain’t easy, but they’re keepin’ at it. And that’s all you can do, really. Keep fightin’, keep hopin’, and keep prayin’. And maybe, just maybe, they’ll find that cure they’re lookin’ for. God bless ’em all, I say.
