Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about this Pantoja vs. Makhachev fight, and I, like many others, am super curious about how a potential matchup would play out. So, I decided to dig in and do some “research” – my kind of research, anyway.
First, I scoured the internet for any info I could find on these two beasts. I mean, Makhachev is a monster, right? And Pantoja, the Flyweight champ, is super quick and dangerous.

Digging into Their Styles
- Makhachev: I watched a bunch of his fights. The guy is all about control. Grappling, takedowns, ground and pound… He just smothers his opponents. It’s impressive, even if it’s not always the most exciting style.
- Pantoja: This dude is a whirlwind! I checked out some of his highlight reels and recent wins. He’s got crazy fast hands, and his jiu-jitsu is top-notch. He’s always looking for the finish, which is awesome.
Then, I spent some time just thinking about how their styles would clash. This is the fun part! I pictured Makhachev trying to take Pantoja down, and Pantoja trying to keep it standing and land some bombs. It’s a classic wrestler vs. striker kind of thing, but with a modern MMA twist.
My “analysis”, if you can call it that, mostly involved pacing around my living room, throwing imaginary punches and grappling with my dog (he wasn’t very helpful, to be honest). But hey, it got me thinking!
The Big Question
The biggest thing I kept coming back to was the size difference. Makhachev fights at lightweight, Pantoja at flyweight. That’s a significant weight difference! Could Pantoja’s speed and skill overcome that? Could Makhachev even make the weight cut if a superfight were to happen?
Finally, I concluded… well, I didn’t really conclude anything concrete. It’s all speculation! But it’s fun to think about. I guess it would all come down to who could impose their game plan. Could Pantoja stay on his feet and land something big? Or would Makhachev just dominate him on the ground?
For now, it’s just a fun “what if” scenario. But hey, that’s part of what makes MMA so interesting, right? We can all be armchair analysts and dream up these crazy matchups.
