Alright, so I got this idea the other day while just wandering around in Star Rail. You know how you run past all those flashy billboards? I kinda started wondering what they actually say or show. Usually, I’m just focused on quests or fighting stuff, but this time, I decided, hey, let’s actually take a proper look.
Starting the Investigation
First thing I did was log in, obviously. My goal wasn’t anything grand, just wanted to satisfy my own curiosity. I figured Belobog was the best place to start. It’s got that whole city vibe, loads of screens and posters plastered everywhere.

So, I warped over to the Administrative District. Instead of running straight to an objective, I just started walking. Slowly. Like, really slow. My plan was simple:
- Walk through the main areas.
- Stop at every single billboard or large poster I could find.
- Zoom in if possible (using the in-game camera helps sometimes).
- Actually try to make out the details.
Looking Closer in Belobog
Man, there’s quite a few of them. Lots of ads, some looking like movie posters, others just abstract designs. It’s kinda interesting what you notice when you actually stop. Found some repeating logos, probably meant to be in-universe brands. Some were pretty crisp, others were intentionally blurry or low-res, which kinda fits the world, I guess.
I spent a good hour just doing this in the Administrative District and Boulder Town. Boulder Town had fewer flashy screens, more like worn posters and painted signs. Different feel, but still part of the investigation. Took a few mental notes, nothing too serious, just trying to remember the recurring stuff or anything particularly weird or funny.
Checking Out Other Places
After Belobog, I thought, why not check the Xianzhou Luofu? Hopped over there. The style is totally different, obviously. More traditional-looking scrolls mixed with futuristic holo-displays. The content felt different too, less like commercial ads and more like notices or maybe cultural displays? Hard to tell sometimes, but the aesthetic was definitely unique.
I didn’t spend as long on the Luofu, mainly because the billboard density felt lower, or maybe they just blend in more with the environment. Still, poked around Central Starskiff Haven for a bit, doing the same slow walk and look routine.
Final Thoughts on the Billboard Hunt
So, what did I find? No earth-shattering secrets or hidden codes, really. But it was kinda cool just appreciating the environmental details. The artists definitely put effort into making these things look like they belong in the world, even if most players (like me, usually) just sprint past them.

It was a simple little project, just took some time and patience. Made me realize how much background detail goes into these games. Didn’t change how I play, but it was a neat way to spend an afternoon, just looking around and noticing the small stuff for once. Kinda makes the world feel a bit more solid, you know?
