Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with Mortis in Brawl Stars lately, and let me tell you, this guy is a blast to play! But, you gotta know how to build him right, otherwise, you’re just gonna be feeding the enemy team. Here’s the deal from what I tried.
First off, I started by experimenting with his basic attacks. His main thing is dashing around and swiping with his shovel. Sounds simple, right? Wrong! It is kinda tricky to get used to his movement. He’s super fast, which is awesome, but also makes him a bit hard to control at first. I spent a good chunk of time just practicing dashing in and out, getting a feel for the range and timing.
Then I moved on to his Super, which is where things get really interesting. Mortis calls a swarm of bats that hurt enemies and heal him at the same time. The catch? It is not an instant heal, the bats have a bit of travel time. So, I learned pretty quickly that you can’t just rely on it to save you in a pinch. You gotta anticipate when you’ll need it and use it a little bit in advance. Timing is key.
Now, about the Star Powers. I tried both Creepy Harvest and Coiled Snake, and honestly, they’re both pretty good, but for different reasons.
- Creepy Harvest: This one gives you a burst of health whenever you defeat an enemy. It’s great for staying alive in a brawl, especially when you’re taking on multiple enemies at once. I found myself surviving way longer in Showdown matches with this one.
- Coiled Snake: This Star Power extends the range of your dash after a short delay. I noticed it is a game-changer for mobility. You can chase down enemies more easily, escape sticky situations, and generally just zip around the map like a maniac.
I also experimented with his Gadgets, and it is a really good combination in my view.
- First, “Combo Spinner” is a decent choice, which allows Mortis to deal damage to nearby enemies.
- The second Gadget, “Survival Shovel” is also a good pick, because it gives Mortis a quick reload.
After messing around with different combinations, I figured out a build that really works for me. I usually go with Coiled Snake for the extra mobility, then the “Damage” and “Speed” to help me engage or disengage quickly and deal more damage when my health is low. The “Survival Shovel” Gadget helps me keep the pressure on. I realized that this setup lets me play aggressively, darting in and out of fights, and constantly harassing the enemy team.
One thing I learned the hard way, though, is that Mortis is not a tank. He is squishy. You gotta play smart, pick your battles, and avoid getting caught in the open. He is also weak against stuns, slows, and burst damage. So, keep that in mind.
Overall, building the best Mortis is all about finding what works for your playstyle. Do you prefer to be a hit-and-run assassin? Then maybe Coiled Snake is your jam. Or do you like to sustain in longer fights? Then Creepy Harvest might be better. Just get out there, try different things, and have fun! That is what I did, and now I’m having a blast playing Mortis. He is not easy to master, but he is definitely worth the effort. So go out there, experiment, and find your own best Mortis build! This guy is so interesting that I’m not going to stop trying to get better at him anytime soon.
