Okay, so I’ve been playing a lot of Stardew Valley lately, and I kept running out of Refined Quartz. It’s used in a bunch of crafting recipes, especially for quality sprinklers, which are super important for automating your farm. I was constantly digging through the mines, hoping to find some quartz, but it was slow going. Then I figured out a much better way to get it!
My Refined Quartz Struggles and Solution
First, I tried just mining a lot. I’d hit the mines, go down as many levels as I could, and smash every quartz node I saw. This worked… okay. I’d get a few pieces of regular quartz each trip, but it felt really inefficient. Plus, I needed a lot of refined quartz, and this method just wasn’t cutting it.

Then, I remembered the Recycling Machine! I had one sitting in a chest, completely forgotten. You get this machine pretty early on, I think from one of the fishing bundles or maybe just from leveling up fishing.
So, I placed the Recycling Machine on my farm and started experimenting. I threw in some trash I’d fished up, like soggy newspaper, and yep, it gave me some useful stuff. Then I remembered: Broken CDs and Broken Glasses! These are basically junk items you get from fishing, right?
I tossed a Broken CD into the Recycling Machine, and guess what? It turned into Refined Quartz! Same thing with the Broken Glasses! I was so excited, I almost jumped out of my chair. This was a game-changer!
- Step 1: Fish. A lot. You don’t even need to be good at it. Just cast your line and reel in all that trash.
- Step 2: Collect all the Broken CDs and Broken Glasses you get.
- Step 3: Put them in your Recycling Machine.
- Step 4: Boom! Refined Quartz!
Now, my farm is swimming in Refined Quartz. I’ve built tons of quality sprinklers, and my farming life is so much easier. No more wasting time hand-watering crops! If you’re struggling to get Refined Quartz, seriously, try this method. It’s so much better than just mining for it.
