Alright, let’s talk about that South Mausoleum in the DLC. I finally got around to poking my head in there yesterday.
Getting there wasn’t too bad, actually. I started from that grace point near the big jagged cliffs, you know the one. Rode Torrent south, mostly. Had to dodge some of those big, lumbering shadow beasts, the ones that hit like a truck if you let ’em. Annoying, but manageable. The landscape down there is pretty weird, all grey and kinda gloomy. Fits the whole ‘shadow land’ theme, I guess.

Finding the Entrance
The mausoleum itself is pretty obvious once you get close. Big stone building, kinda imposing. Standard FromSoft stuff. There were a couple of those fast shadow guys lurking around the entrance. Took ’em out quick. Didn’t want any surprises stabbing me in the back while I tried to open the door.
The door was heavy, typical mausoleum vibe. Pushed it open and stepped inside. It was dark, real dark. Good thing I always keep my lantern handy. The air felt thick, you know? Like old dust and… something else. Spooky.
Inside the Mausoleum
Inside, it was pretty straightforward at first. A main chamber, some branching paths. I went left first, usually works out for me. Ran into a few more shadow enemies, nothing too serious. They seem to be the main fodder in this place.
Found a small room off to the side. Picked up some crafting materials, I think it was Somber Grave Violet or something like that. Always need more of those. Explored a bit more down that path, hit a dead end. Okay, back to the main chamber.
Tried the right path next. This one seemed a bit more complex. There were some pressure plates on the floor. Stepped on one by accident, obviously. Arrows shot out from the wall. Nearly gave me a heart attack! Managed to roll out of the way. Okay, gotta be more careful.
I noticed some patterns on the walls, seemed like clues for the plates. Took me a minute, walking back and forth, trying to figure out the safe path. Honestly, it wasn’t the hardest puzzle, just needed a bit of patience. Got past the trap eventually.

- Dodged the shadow beasts outside.
- Dealt with the guards at the door.
- Explored the left path (mostly junk).
- Navigated the pressure plate trap on the right.
Past the trap room, things got more interesting. Found a bigger chamber with a sort of sarcophagus in the middle. And yeah, of course, something was guarding it. A bigger, meaner version of those shadow knights. This one had some nasty bleed attacks.
The fight was okay. Took a few tries. His timing was a bit weird, caught me off guard the first time. Had to play it safe, dodge, get a hit or two in, back off. Used my trusty Bloodhound’s Step to avoid the worst of it. Finally got him down.
The Loot and Leaving
After the knight went down, the place felt quiet again. Went up to the sarcophagus. Wasn’t expecting much, maybe another crafting flower. But hey, it actually had something decent! Got a new Spirit Ash, looked like one of those Mausoleum Knights. Haven’t tried it out yet, but seems cool.
Checked the corners of the room, didn’t find anything else. So, that was pretty much it for the South Mausoleum. Headed back out the way I came. Stepping back into the grey daylight felt kinda nice after being in that dark hole.
Overall? It was a decent little dungeon crawl. Nothing mind-blowing, but a solid little adventure. Good atmosphere, a simple puzzle, a slightly tougher enemy at the end, and a worthwhile reward. Definitely worth checking out if you’re clearing the map down south. Just watch out for those floor traps!
