Alright, so you wanna know about this Mookie Betts fella, huh? And his folks? Well, lemme tell ya what I know, or what I heard tell of, anyways. It ain’t always easy keeping up with these young’uns and their fancy lives, but I’ll do my best.
First off, this Mookie, he’s a baseball player. Plays for the Dodgers now, used to be with the Red Sox. Big shot player, they say. Hits the ball real far, runs real fast. Makes a whole lotta money, I reckon. More money than this old lady ever seen in her life, that’s for sure.
Now, about his parents… that’s where it gets a bit hazy. See, folks don’t talk much about his daddy. I heard tell he wasn’t around much, but don’t quote me on that. His mama, though, her name is Diana. Diana Benedict, they call her. She seems like a good woman, the kind that worked hard and raised her boy right. At least, that’s what it seems like from what I hear.
- Mookie was born in 1992. That makes him… let’s see… carry the one… well, he’s a grown man now, ain’t he?
- He’s got a wife, too. A pretty thing, from what I seen in pictures. And kids! A little girl, born a few years back, and a little boy just born here recent. A whole family man, this Mookie.
They say Mookie’s got an uncle, too. Terry Shumpert his name was. Used to play baseball himself, a long time ago. Maybe that’s where Mookie got the itch to play, huh? Guess it runs in the family, like a bad knee or a sweet tooth. You know how them things go.
Now, this Mookie, he takes care of himself. Eats all that healthy stuff, they call it vegan. I don’t know much about it, but I reckon it means no meat. Just plants and such. Heard tell he wasn’t playing so good for a spell and folks blamed the food. But he fixed it, whatever it was. Kept on playing ball and doing his thing.
He works hard, that Mookie. I heard tell he practices all the time. Always trying to get better. That’s what it takes, I guess. If you wanna be the best, you gotta put in the work. Ain’t no shortcuts in this life, not that I ever seen anyways.
Someday, they might even make a movie about Mookie. Imagine that! A whole movie about a baseball player from… well, I don’t rightly know where he’s from, but it don’t matter. He made something of himself, that’s what counts.
And his mama, Diana, she must be proud. All that hard work, all them years of raising him up, it paid off. She done good. Real good.
Anyways, that’s all I know about Mookie Betts and his family. It ain’t much, maybe, but it’s what I heard. He’s a good player, a family man, and he works hard. What more you need to know?
