Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my CS settings again, and this time I decided to try out Monesy’s autoexec. I’d heard good things, people saying it can really smooth out your game, so I figured, why not?
First, I had to actually find the thing. Did a quick search, found a few places hosting it. It’s basically just a text file, a .cfg, filled with a bunch of commands.

Then came the fun part – getting it into my CS:GO folder. Now, I’ve done this kind of thing before, so I know the drill. Find your Steam folder, then go into ‘steamapps’, then ‘common’, then ‘Counter-Strike Global Offensive’, then ‘csgo’, and finally, ‘cfg’. That’s where this * file needs to live.
I made a backup of my old config, just in case. Always a good idea, you know? Never know when you might want to go back. Copied my old one, named it something like ‘config_*’, and tucked it away.
After that, i pasted the autoexec file content that i had copied, into my * and save it.
Next step was telling the game to actually use this autoexec. I went into my Steam library, right-clicked on CS:GO, went to ‘Properties’, then ‘General’, and found the ‘Launch Options’ box. Typed in ‘+exec *’ there. That basically tells the game, “Hey, when you start up, run this file.”
Booted up the game, and… honestly, at first, I didn’t notice a huge difference. But after playing a few rounds, things did feel… smoother. I’m not sure if it’s placebo or what, but my aim felt a little more consistent. I was getting a few more headshots, which is always nice. Maybe it’s the FPS settings in the autoexec, maybe it’s something else. But I’m feeling pretty good about it.
I’ve still got some tweaking to do, probably. I might adjust some of the sensitivity settings, see if I can fine-tune things even more. But overall, yeah, I’d say trying out monesy’s autoexec was a win. It’s definitely something I’d recommend if you’re looking to optimize your game a little bit.
